Not a Chinese seller, just showing people the markup on their equipment. If you want to spend $2500 for a $700 piece of equipment that is your choice.

fob means the price deliverd to a port in china, you will then have to get a forwarding company to collect and bring to where you are ..

that will quickly rise the price.

So on your first two posts ever you are pushing a particular company and its products and giving out pricing. Excuse me if I am questioning your motives or intentions.

    That depends

That depends on its specific usage, it may stand for Free On Board or Freight On Board. FOB specifies which party (buyer or seller) pays for which shipment and loading costs, and/or where responsibility for the goods is transferred.

"FOB shipping point" or "FOB origin" indicates the buyer pays shipping cost and takes responsibility for the goods when the goods leave the seller's premises.

"FOB destination" designates the seller will pay shipping costs and remain responsible for the goods until the buyer takes possession

There are also the delivery options such as CIF and Express.

I agree with you, I think if someone really wanted to import this equipment and did their homework they could make quite the savings.

My OP was to show the markup on this stuff. I actually prefer Legend and Pro-elite American made products.

If someone wanted to import the stuff for themselves, they might get away with it. If Otaway Fitness Equipment actually manufactures stuff for Hammer Strength, they may lose their contract when Hammer Strength gets wind of it.

If someone wanted to import the stuff to resell they'll probably get slapped with a law suit, especially if they describe it as the same as Hammer Strength.

    Everything has a markup.

These things you mention are made for pennies in China.

Another example, Harley Davidson clothing sold in a HD dealership or HD motor clothing store. These garments a made for less than a dollar up and to 30 or 40 dollars and sold at retail for an incredible markup. Their $20 t-shirts are made in China for less than $1. There $500-$600 leather jackets are made in China for $30-$40 dollars. This is an American brand company but outsources to China. Even their Chrome accessories and engine parts are outsourced to China.

I use to order patches sets "cuts" for an MC here in the states. Initially we had them made for about $75 here in the US. But when we found that we could get them made in China for a few dollars, we outsourced to China. Our members appreciated the savings.

GREAT!! More people pushing China over the U.S. I will not even shop at Walmart but good to see Americans willing to undercut and go behind their neighbors for a few bucks. I bet you even Bitch about the economic state of the U.S.

Guys, buy used for less if you need the savings and remember, after all the shipping is factored in these are not as great of a deal. Real commercial equipment has the smallest mark up in fitness. Hell, I have to get an ok on the margins because at full pop,it is less than I am supposed to be at.

I cannot wait till the trade agreements are re-done to stop this garbage.
I sell home and commercial fitness equipment, so if you have questions on equipment PM me and I will help.

Is that directed at me or the spammer? How much of the equipment that you sell is made in China?

You can thank the über liberals and our socialistic minded president for the way our economy is. The housing market crashed because of über liberals. Conservatives warned of the crash, but liberals like Barney Frank dismissed it. You also have über liberals who think our economy is stronger when our country carries more debt. Well our country is 16 plus trillion in debt and look at where this country is at. BTW not shopping at Walmart won't fix this economy. The majority of all products are outsourced to some foreign country. Clothing, shoes, eletronics, almost everything. Even the food you eat. Read all the labels of the product currently in your home, I'll bet most are not made in US. Even US cars have foreign parts, just like Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Also, Hammer Strength is commercial strength equipment sold by Life Fitness a division of Brunswick. So you better not go bowling because you'd be promoting foreign goods also. HS is not like TDS or other like Chinese made stuff you find sold at NYBB. Just because its commercial doesn't guarantee its made stateside.

People are going to buy where they can find the best deal. I would like to only buy US made products because I'm American, but lets be realistic times are tuff and wallets are bare.

Not sure who you are referring to as a spammer? My OP was not an advertisement, abusive, or otherwise unwanted. My OP was to show markup on HS Equipment and to also show that the stuff is actually made in China.
The Bible warns us not to follow men [Jeremiah 17:5, Psalm 118:8],
but to test what all leaders teach with scripture [1 John 4:1-2; Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17].

Stop with the ignorant political ramblings and get to the point. What is the final price to my door vs ordering from Hammer Strength and not having to learn Chinese to make the order, while maintaining basic consumer protections so I don't get ripped off and not having to do any extra work other than putting in the order and having it show up? My time is money too.

Anyone can search alibaba and dream. Numbers and real world experiences matter. Philosophizing on what FOB could possibly mean doesn't help at all.

I am not sure if even domestically produced gym equipment is not made of Chinese steel and with Chinese machinery.

almost all home equipment is made in China or Taiwan.

The issue is direct from China means China is ignoring trade, design and patent rights and undercutting the product owner/designer. you cannot sue them because China government is set up for this. It is going to be cloned items almost always made of lower grade everything.

You are probably correct on most major brands. Popular cheap stuff Body Solid, Marcy, Powertec, Gold's, Weider, etc is made overseas. If its sold in a box store it's most likely made in China.

Because the distributor buys in bulk. Most likely he buys shipping containers full of items from China. The more the distributor buys the lower he can get his unit prices down, increasing his profit margin. The place you purchased from may also be a drop ship seller and have no inventory. Lots of people run drop ship companies out of their home and have no store front. Just a few $100 invested in a website. Some may even have a store front with little inventory, but also does drop shipping to supplement revenues. Here in town we have a fitness equipment retailer that sells PaceMaster and other high end fitness equipment. They also have an online store selling these products. All products sold online are drop shipped to the customer from the distributors warehouse. BTW PaceMaster used to be made in US, but not anymore.

I know, I used to sell them. I miss Parabody too.

My company is the largest LF/HS dealer. I get it directly from LF and their main office is about 15min from where I grew up and 45min from where I now work. No drop shipping or middle men. We are the middle man.

Hammer Strength is NOT going to honor any service for these and I will pay to see the China man fly in and do it. It is not a good deal it is a gamble. Albeit, a gamble on a great line of equipment
I sell home and commercial fitness equipment, so if you have questions on equipment PM me and I will help.

well, Most of mine is made in Taiwan. lol

My issue is with China business practice and the direct sell crap they do. they have done it for years. They Repackage other peoples items and often at a lower grade, then sell it against them.
With my stuff, you have local support and at least US based companies. All the white collar is still here at least.

As for Wally world, they are $h1t. The money they make at the expense of every one else ( employees, local commerce, American workers and companies etc) is pure evil. I will not go on a complete tangent but, the world and this country would be a better place without them or at least with the Laws of the 70's and 80's re en-stated

With that known, someone can now make their own decision on how they wish to obtain HS equipment to outfit their home gym. Spend a lot through a stateside retailer or do a little leg work and save several hundred dollars. $500 might sound like a lot for shipping costs, but if I can get a $2500 rack for $1300 I'd go the cheaper route. There are ways to protect oneself in an overseas transaction. Such as escrow accounts and buying from a verified seller that's been inspected.

It is not real HS though, if you have not figured that out by now. Like I said go USED to save money.

http://www.brunswick.com/company/wor...ufacturing.php I think Hammer Strength, which is part of LifeFitness, which is owned by Brunswick Corp., is only manufactured in four locations. None of which seem to be in China. However, I am not saying that there are no Chinese components used. I believe what the OP is pricing are definately Hammer Strength "Knock-offs".......The page on the link provided is dated 2013 at the bottom, apparently making these the only current manufacturing plants. I don't know which of the four produce Hammer Strength equipment.
