    my friend made a grapefruit/avocado salsa and shredded napa cabbage to go with it , she's into weird stuff like that and it was ok but too many flavors clashing
    I am more traditional, a little home made chilpotle sauce .. , avocados, squeeze of lime juice and cilantro ... that's it

    That sounds amazing. I would love to have a friend that came over and we drank and cooked delicious food together. Even better if it was someone who could teach me fancy stuff. I'm jealous!

    Agree simple is best when it comes to fish tacos. I do like the crunch a little lettuce or cabbage brings but pretty much just add lime, cilantro, tomatillo or chilpotle salsa and avocado if I have it ...

    Living in California, many of my friends now have dietary restrictions (e.g. only fish, no gluten, raw food, vegetarian, vegan) which makes cooking for them or cooking together a challenge. The last time I had people over there were so many "special" food issues that I've pretty much decided that there are certain friends I can't cook for anymore. It just stressed me out too much.
