Let it begin, cain vs overeem
Who ya got? I'm hoping for reem because I wanna see some good rivalries between cain, jds, and reem.
Cains pace and wresrling will be tough for reem, I dont think he could have defended takedowns and scrambled as well as jds did in round one. But reems knees to the body will take a lot out of anyone no matter how good their cardio is, and a lot of people who dont like him dont give his striking enough credit.
I really hope bigface doesnt ruin this because I'm already pumped for this fight.
you wanna know how i did it, this is how, i never saved anything for the swim back.

Only the biggest haters/most delusional detractors try to downplay Reem's striking credentials. Cain needs to ask his boy Jon Fitch what to do, because any attempt to bring it to 'Reem like he did with JDS is sure suicide. He may have caught Junior off guard by trying to flesh out his boxing, but that is NOT the way to play it with Overeem.

Ive had Reem as the best HW for a couple years now. Im telling anyone he is physically too strong, technical, and athletic for anyone in the heavyweight division. I have no doubt that he could out grapple Cain. Cain loves shooting head outside single legs and Ubereems got an almost unstoppable guillotine choke right now. The only person who realistically stands a chance against him is Cain because of his wrestling and maybe Dos santos with a punchers chance but thats about it. Cole Konrad would be a good fight for Overeem but he retired so i dont see Overeem losing anytime soon.

Reem is too buff to have any cardio. I expect him to come in with a flurry in the first but will gas by the time the round is over. Cain will do his thing from that point forward.

Yeah a lot of people just blindly hate him but no doubt hes the best striker at hw.

Ive seen that fight a bunch of times and werdum went for a ton of takedowns and reem threw him around and reem reaallly didn't gas that bad like everyone makes it seem. honestly most hws gas worse from a lot less.
I get that cains cardio is better but saying werdum gassed reem is grasping at straws. Reem slowed down but he stuffed like 20 takedowns and werdum was waaayy more tired yet no one mentions his gas tank.

If Cain can get 'Reem against the cage to drag him down, he could find success, but trying to pressure him up top, then work singles...not wise. Really excited to see how this potential matchup plays out. It's Overeem's fight to lose, IMO.

People really need to
A) Rewatch that fight
B) Realize that one fight where he gets a little worn out doesn't equate to him having bad cardio

JDS has more than "a puncher's chance" against 'Reem. And Cole Konrad? Excuse me?

If Overeem doesn't win in the first round, Cain will win. I don't question Overeem's chin, but I do question his heart. Overeem will crumble if the fight doesn't go his way.

Interested in this fight as well, but I'd still rather see JDS v Overeem

This.
People make it sound like Overeem was just plodding around in zombie mode with his hands down. The most "gassed" he got was in the third when Werdum was trying to get his straights through and 'Reem just went to a basic Dutch cover-and-fire counter mode. He knew that using his usual aggressive attack would get him pulled down, so he played the counters and won the fight handily 30-27.
People are all over Werdum's nuts now, but promptly forget about him taking dives after Overeem faints and jabs to try and pull guard, then scooting on the ground towards 'Reem. He played it like a real bitch, but the haters like to act like he beat 'Reem's ass or something.

Is overeem getting a title shot or is he going to have to get through JDS first?

I know, but does the winner get to fight Cain or do they have to go beat someone else first, such as JDS? Just thinking people are getting ahead of themselves.

If cain comes out the same way he did vs jds he will get countered by overeem who is a K-1 level counter striker-was shocked how sloppy he was looking early in the jds fight and how it was not taken advantage of-. Cain needs to ride him against the cage and take his time don't leave any distance between them or he will get abused. I think overeem has better take down defense then most give him credit for and I'm sure he has been working on it for the last several years + joined a camp with some top wrestlers. Also cain leaves his midsection open for attack all the time which jds started taking advantage of but by the time he did he was too gased. Overeem could take away cains cardio with some well timed body blows.-like he did vs brock/rogers/duffee.
When reem walks over big foot you will see that he is ready to be champion right now

I'm not sure if cain should try to hold him against the cage though, reem is awesome from the clinch.
And lol at that pic

I think its a little less risky working a takedown in close then working those wide shots he did last night. Since overeem is a counter fighter mostly and cain has an aggressive style this match up works pretty favorably for reem.

If Overeem wins, he gets the title shot. If Bigfoot wins who knows since he recently got completely destroyed by Cain.

bingo.
reem has a vast catalog of scenarios where he can dispose of cain in the first, but after that cains motor will be too much for him
Show me how u hate me now.

Thanks for regurgitating the exact same gameplan/strategy I already described just hours ago in this very thread.

Yeah it will be interesting, Im pretty intrigued by it. Cains pace is a real threat but those knees to the body will slow down anyone if not finish them. I think with cains aggressive style with punching could leave openings for reem but the threat of the takedown could make a huge difference, which is why I think reem should try to neutralize the shot all together. The only way I think he does that is by taking his drive away with body shots, maybe leg kicks, or getting one or two underhooks and working knees.
Even after jds getting dominated I think the current top 3 are all interesting match ups with each other.

Cain would own Overeem

Don't know about that Cain is an animal if he can push the pace and keep the sort of pressure he applied to Dos Santos in the first round of there fight Reem won't stand a chance over 5 he is just to muscular maintain that pace he will gas out faster than Dos Santos did.
For Reems kickboxing to work there needs to be distance and time. His hands are fairly average its his kicks that do the most damage.

But..
A part of me wants to see Bigfoot upset Overeem... just to see the reaction from Dana White.

His hands are not average, not for mma. I dont know why people have kept saying this, even in k1 he relied more heavily on his hands then most kickboxers.
