I'm not a big follower, but I watched this one. It's annoying the fans were booing JDS after the fight. I saw no evidence at all that Cain could maintain the pace he set in the first round that the announcers kept saying he would keep without question. I don't understand why Cain didn't try to do a rear naked choke (or whatever it's called); he had many opportunities, it looked like. JDS seems to have a ton of heart but didn't seem smart enough (or trained well enough) to handle Cain's game plan. Cain seemed like a superior fighter in every way.

I wil not stop supporting JDS, but man, he let me down in that fight. Not because he lost, but because he just seem to give up. Why get the thai clinch and not knee? Why seperate only to back into the cage? Why get upper position on the ground only to get back up? And once he's up, why do nothing there? Wtf.

Did we just see two heavyweights go a full 5 rounds and stay active all the way until the end of the fight? Da fuq? We really might be entering the golden age of HW MMA?

I don't know why everyone was surprised. This was what was supposed to happen last year...

Know that feel brah....
They were both tired as phuck the whole time to me. For as bad as Joe was hugging Cain's nuts about the cardio and how he can set a relentless pace, he sure slowed down really badly in the 2nd round.
There is obviously going to be a 3rd fight now. Dont even know how that will go. Even more confused now then I was after the first fight lol.1 Stripe Blue Belt, Gracie Barra BJJ (Reps to BJJ/MMA brahs)

I don't think it was mental, he wanted to fight back with all his heart but that shot took his legs away, he was wobbling and woozy until the 3rd round and by that point he had crossed the point of no return, it was like a black hole. There's a wall that heart and desire to win isn't gonna scale no matter how much of it you have. He was still there mentally and his heart never faded but his body had essentially shut down on him.

I wouldn't exactly say they stayed that active but they were certainly more active than some other HWs who never see the 4th round.
I like how people are trashing JDS's performance in this. Cain got KO'd early in the last fight in this one he was a lot more active and connected big time with JDS in the first and had the opportunity to really damage him(which he did) and put him away(which he did not)
JDS was gassed and could barely defend himself after that first round yet he still went the distance and Cain himself was gassed at the end. Considering the strengths of each fighters it's no big shock that the fights went the way they did.
I'll be looking forward to the 3rd one where that one will probably go the same way as one of the first two. Either early stoppage by JDS winning or Cain grinding out a decision.
Honestly I think JDS gave Cain's wrestling a bit too much respect and it hurt him in the standup. Even when JDS looked like he was on the verge of death he was able to stand up and avoid some of Cain's takedowns. I think next time he'll concentrate more on doing what makes him a great fighter vs worrying about what makes Cain a great fighter.
Anyways...card was kinda disappointing but at least the Miller/Lauzon fight was money.

No way brah, it was even worse when Cain was champion. All we kept hearing was how he was the first Mexican HW champion, La Raza, and how he was the future etc.
JDS still has beaten the tougher competition when you look at it (except for his loss). He's gone through almost the entire division except for Reem and Cormier. All he needs is 1 win and he'll get a shot at the title.1 Stripe Blue Belt, Gracie Barra BJJ (Reps to BJJ/MMA brahs)

and for the conspiracy theorist one thing i noticed in the 1st round rogan says somtehing like "oh JDS looks like he's slowing down" when I swear JDS just stuffed a TD and didn't look any different from the first 10 seconds of the fight then 30 seconds later Cain t'akes him down with ease.
