If I am right, please take up the torch and educate others that there really is no such thing as "big boned".
BTW....there is such a thing as different frame sizes, but generally larger frames can carry a lot more muscle. What is your wrist diameter (at smallest part) and ankle?
Good luck man....I really hope you do well moving forward. You would not be the first person to have misconceptions about their body. I too was in your shoes for many years. I was convinced that I was a lot bigger then I thought. It was not until I actually dieted (the right way for the first time in my life). I went from 205 down to 178. Now you say 178 is tiny....but at 178 I had 17+" arms and close to a 50 " chest with a 31" waist. I remember you posted what your measurements were....and if at 220 your arms are only 16" range....you are not carrying nearly as much muscle as you think. (no hate....as I have said, I was there too). Dont worry about the scale and drop preconceived notions of what scale weight means.
Don't worry ID, I have read your posts and you are not one to spread hate. I value your input really.
FWIW, my wrists are 7.5 and ankle 9.5".
A little less than 2 years ago, I weighed between 185 and 195. I have a pretty good picture of what I will look like at that weight... honestly, I am thinking that I will look a lot better because of the muscle gains I have made.
Anyhow, I am listening to you and my only focus right now is to get rid of the damn fat while maintaining as much muscle and strength as possible.
I will make a wager with you: If I get down to 190 by April 18th, I will carry the anti-bigboned torch BUT you have to replace all of the white circles on your progress pics with yellow smiley faces. Deal?

Keep us up to date with your progress. It is always helpful to see how others are progressing.
ID, on behalf of the 5'7" to 5'10" gang, we would appreciate if you sit in the corner until you are ready to help us with the delusion that we will look nice and tight like you at 190lb without all the years of effort building the muscle. Thank you and happy new year. haha!!!

I know it sucks.. but get the weight off.... I was just taking some measurements today..I used to have 16 1/4 inch arms but now they are 14.5, still haven't made much progress with the stomach despite losing close to 30 lbs... I thought I was going to be fairly lean at 230-240, but I may have to dip down lower.

I actually did a variation of the t-nation Liquid Velocity diet but it was through reading Lyle McDonald that I shaped the way I approached fat loss at the end. I mostly followed the T-Nation program (which I think may have been derived from Lyle) but went with my own choice on supplements which saved considerable money.
Before I did the diet I had been on a typically 500 calorie deficit for a good part of 2012. I had stalled out and was feeling run down. I began to realize that I don’t do well on a long term calorie deficit. So before starting I did a month long surplus and then jumped into the PSFM diet.
The first 3 weeks were easy and the fourth week I started feeling run down and a bit foggy. I had even uncovered my abs for the first time in my life by week 3. The pace of the weight loss started to taper out in the fourth week. I think I lost a pound the last week. However, I had hit my goals and came out of the diet with a big carb re-feed.
The ironic part is that I’m eating so much more than I was on that diet and have hardly gained any weight back. I’ve been doing a 2750/3150 LeanGains split since coming off the PSFM diet. I suspect I may have put on a little more lean mass and recomped some more in the process. I probably look leaner now 3 months later than I did at the end of the diet.
I plan in a couple of months to do another 3 week run of the diet. For me anyway, it seems to be a nice quick way to reset my body fat ratio.

Thank you for sharing! I have considered doing this on my next bulk. Every few months, do this for a week or two. Thanks a lot for sharing experiences. I had heard anything more then 2 weeks and the losses slow dramatically as well as catabolism rises....so I doubt I would do it any longer then 14 day consecutive.

My experience was that fat loss was rapid the first 14 days and I also felt great. I'd guess that for a lean-ish person with good discipline it would work well. I went from having a small gut to being flat by week two. I developed good definition for the remaining time but my strength took a hit on the 4th week.
I'll do two weeks for my next round as well.
