both ways work. if you always tuck your elbows, try it his way and you'll feel the difference where the triceps insert at the shoulders.

And then there was..I say WAS a trainer and I don't know what happened but he's no longer at the gym. The guy would spend the entire time playing grabass with his female clients, I saw it a few times and actually got pissed off but didn't do anything about it. I'm thinking someone complained because all of a sudden he was just gone.

250 or bust!
Saw 2 kids yesterday using the lat pulldown station to do weighted decline sit ups.... about 25 feet away from a free standing decline bench that no one was using.
I don't get it.

LOL!
I guess some people must wonder what the hell I'm doing when I do somersault squats in the Smith machine but eh...
I remember a couple of resolutioners last January - teenage lads - were trying to do leg presses on the 45 degree leg press machine. They were moving it about two inches. I had to go and show them how to move the safeties out of the way.

I just googled that. I guess it wouldn't be the worst thing to watch if you were doing em lol.
I do snatch pulls in the gym so I can do snatch pulls in the bars. And I ALWAYS use a hook grip.

Heard in the gym today that if I run or jog I don't have to do the leg press.
You're all doing it wrong!
That goes especially to you Flex

I shxt you not, my friend said almost the exact same thing when we were just out of high school. He said he didn't need to do legs because when he runs, his legs get the same soreness/DOMS so it had to be the same. Fukking idiot. He's no longer my friend but I hear he's the same still. Swole upper body w/chicken legs.

I usually train at 5am and barely anyone every does legs period.
I've been on vacation and training in the afternoon recently.
Thursday I am doing squats and some young dude come up and loads up 275 in the rack next to me. No warmup, nothing. I squat 400+ ATG and I still start with the empty bar every session, so I was like "This is gonna be good". Then he puts the pussy pad on the bar. Then he proceeds to do the shallowest "squats" I have ever seen in my life. The vertical movement of the bar was barely perceptible.
The very next day the same guy comes in and loads up 5 plates/side on the leg press. Again no warmup. Again almost no ROM. He moved the safeties out of the way, but he didn't need to. He never once lowered the sled to anywhere near it's starting position.
I look forward to training at 5am again starting Wednesday....

Hungry every 2 hours
I once saw a guy in the locker room of my gym running in circles around one of the benches. I still lol about it.
Thankfully my current gym has very few weirdos.
In for the lulz.

And then there are the guys that bring their little kids to the gym (seen it twice now). Brb this kid is staring at me while I lift and I can't concentrate while the other one is jumping all over the place and touching random parts of equipment.

I'm surprised that's allowed - liability issues. Our last gym had told us when we joined up that youngsters 13 and older could join. Then they recanted and said 16.

our gym has a daycare centre. I think it's geared more towards infants and toddlers so that the stay-at-home moms or moms-on-maternity-leave can workout. A 6 or 7YO would be bored in there.

When my oldest was little I took him to my gym a few times. They had a daycare area but he would just yell for me the whole time.
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddd"
Then I'd go over and he'd say "What are you doing?"
"I'm working out; go play with the toys."
Rinse and repeat.
So finally I took him out on the floor with me so he would STFU and stop yelling across the gym.
He was a very good kid, and would just sit there on the floor legs crossed and count my reps.
At the time I was working the afternoon shift so I worked out mid-morning and it wasn't busy at all.
Everyone thought it was cute.
