Sorry for the bump, but if mr2rbo still posts on the misc, I just wanted to let you know this very thread changed my life. srs
I was a LDAR in a minimum wage job. It took 2 years of work after reading your thread and sucking up my pride to go back to school at a community college to learn IT. After that my career took and now I just recently accepted a position focusing on cloud technologies and network systems. Thanks brah I'll always rep you on site.

Me personally I wouldn't go with ccna if you plan on doing CEH.....clients would rather see more Linux exp than cisco......
Or rather, get CCNA security.
I currently have Sec+ and working on CCENT--->CCNA Security. Once I have CCNA Security I will be DOD 8570 level 3 which will put me in the realm of 100k+ salary options with government contracting.
If I went CEH after that and LRedHat cert.....that would be mid 100k if I moved to say....Maryland or DC/VA area....

I didn't even take that path, honestly. I probably will go CCNA security at some point in time, but I went ITIL (for IT Service Management), and then recently GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials). So I'm two cert in for my first year and a half at this company. The goal for most information security professionals is CISSP, which is a few years away for me.
