Try not to break your power rack. Looked like you were about to mangle all that steel by sheer force. Do you do any kind of rotator cuff warmup or stretching before/after chest day? Could you elaborate if you do?

Haha. I never really strech chest, although I need to. But I started doing a little rotator cuff work the day of chest day or after. I don't really try to do much before max, just a small warmup then some warm up sets. But after when I do rotator cuff work, I'll do high rep sets with a 5 lbs plate.

6'3 290. Bench isn't one of my 'main lifts' so to say. I compete in strongman so all areas of pressing have to improve, especially overhead. It's a hassle lol

With a fairly "close" grip too. You manhandled that weight! What are your other lifts like?
Hey check out my log! Haha but ~540 deadlift, 420 ATG squat, 330+ push press. And yeah I like to keep my grip closer, transfer over well for me on overhead pressing. Hands are still a good bit within rings

Thanks man! Considering training for strongman competitions or powerlifting. How did you do at your comps?

Strongman is addicting. I got 2nd at my first comp in the open division and 1st at my next comp in the teen division. Def learned a lot from the first meets

Will definitely have to look into them. Especially if I could actually put up a fight

Kyle above also strong lifting. Have to ask though is that squat to legal depth (past parallel)? Seems odd that your raw squat would be 50 above your deadlift. Very unusual but not unheard of.

Some great bench #'s ITT. Nice job OP. You have a pretty narrow grip (it looks like it to me at least). Is there a reason for that, or just kind of your groove?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Yeah, it's pretty narrow. It's thumbs distance away from the beginning of the knurling (if that makes sense lol). I don't bench in competition, but I feel going a more narrow grip, especially when heavy, hits the triceps pretty well. And when doing overhead presses, you can use leg drive to get the weight up quite a bit then triceps can do the rest of the work. Something along that logic lol

At 19 yrs old, that's insane. All the props in the world. With your narrow grip, yeah, it hits triceps more. You may be able to push more weight if you widen your grip a tad bit. I'm into powerlifting as well. I'm interested in your routine. Maybe we could learn from eachother. I'm on my way to break the bench press world record at 165.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone! And good luck on your bench man...I do a westside ish routine but modified for strongman. I started a log recently (in my sig). But shoot me a pm, would also be interested to see your routine!

Not to steal the purpose of this thread but I didn't start doing the major lifts together. Used to never do squats or dl, then started squats and not dl, just started dl recently. I do go parallel though (not sure how deep you have to go) but next time I squat I'll record it and watch it. Looks pretty damn parallel though when i look in the mirror. Have always done ATG squats
