People over 40
I have looked but could not find any thread about those of us over the big 40. I know that my training has changed a lot in the last few years. I just wanted to start a thread for all of us and hear how everyone is still kicking butt!!

Just hit the gym after a 3 week lay off, already sore! All I did was high reps with low weight, welcome to the wonderful 40s! Maybe the 12 hour drinking marathon on Christmas day didn't help too though, I feel every one of my 43 years today.

In best shape of my life right now, getting noticeably stronger. The main issue I've noticed in the second half of life is the recovery time is way longer. Injuries seem to linger in for months!!!!

All my PRs are history
Post-op appointment today, was once again told that I was in remarkable shape and that I could run and jog for the next 3 weeks along with upper body exercises. No decline wt. crunches, wt. dips, chins and pull-ups for about 4 to 5 weeks, however. While not quite the same as kicking butt, guess it'll be awhile before I'm back to embarrassing some of the younger guys at the gym.

Teacher and Bodybuilder
Heck with 40+. I'm 50+ and bigger and stronger than I've ever been - and plan to keep on building. I'm also getting regular advice from a bb.com buddy who is 60+.
There's a bunch of us older dudes and women here kicking some major iron *ss.
A bodybuilder uses the weight to work the muscle.
There are no accidents. Everything happens for a reason and usually at exactly the right time.

well I don't train as hard as I did in my teens and early twenty's. I'm not as strong as I was in my mid thirties. I wake up every day thankful I'm not looking up through 6 feet of earth.
need insperation?

spent 5 1/2 months off work with ripped planter tendons and a colapsed ankle 2 1/2 years ago.

there's a nice pic from my knee replacement surgery in June of 2011
my current pr is a 820lb hack squat and a 1355lb leg press.
how much higher I go is only limited by how much effort I put in.

I'm kicking so much ass its crazy. Another pb today: 45 lb dbs x 8 reps seated military press. Been setting pr/pb's just about every workout.
At some point I need to update my photos but prolly not til I'm done with this bulk and have shaved off some fat.

Well, i'm newly single (after 27 years) and i need to work off all that good living and home cooking...lol. I feel better and stronger than I have in a long time, I retired from USN in 2004, and I'm liking having to buy smaller waist size jeans now!
