Inspired by the "you might be a gym idiot" thread... This is intended to be light hearted. If it's too "Misc" for the equipment forum, I apologize and I'll close the thread.

You might be a Craigslist Idiot if....

(1) Your sale has no photos or your sale photos are stock photos from the manufacturer's website If your description is also poor, then you're 2x an idiot. But if you're selling cement weights, then you're an a**.

(2) Your photos are smaller than a postage stamp and/or the same resolution as the photos of the Loch Ness monster.

(3) You never take down your sales after the items are sold. Your time is too valuable. If other people still read your ad and reply, it's easier for you just ignore them.

(4) You send a one line email: "is it still available?" the same day that the sale was posted.

(5) You say "I'll take it" and then never contact the seller again

(6) You spend $50 on gas and six hours driving to save $50.

(7) You get chatty and stick around after a buy.

(8) You think it's ok for the sale items to be picked up two feet away from used kitty litter or garbage.

(9) You ask detailed questions in numerous emails before finally disclosing your ridiculously low offer

(10) You take photos of your Craigslist score and then use the same photos to flip the gear even though you're keeping the good stuff in the photos.

11) You list an item without searching CL to see what similar items are going for. If there's someone listing the exact same thing for $300 and it's not moving, you're wasting your time listing yours for $500.

12) You put "$_____ FIRM" as your asking price. CL shoppers love to haggle, and everybody wants to feel like they got a good deal. By stating up front that you're unwilling to negotiate, you're driving away a lot of potential buyers.

This happens all the time on my local CL, or they will say serious workout equipment and its crap that a 12 year old uses.

i was selling the ironmaster spotting dumbbell stand for 165 obo. the guy offered 60. mind you they are $269 new. the guy kept offering 60, total douche. i said the lowest i will go is 120. he said all he had was 100, and finally admitted he had the 120 i was asking for. i put him on ignore after that cause he cussed me out and sent me emails from his alternate emails pretending to be someone else saying my stuff was crap and i sucked lol.

15) You have an item for sale, but its buried under tools, clothes, trash, and generally indistinguishable from the clutter around it. Clearly you're a busy douchebag, so just take a quick blurry photo of it as it sits and post it as is.

16) Even though flipping a photo is just about easier than turning on the computer....because you're still a busy douchebag, you never take the 2 seconds to do it. Turning your head sideways isn't a big deal and is a small price to pay for the awesome standard bench press you want $300 for.

wow. thats crazy, that someone would go to all that trouble. Glad to hear you didnt sell them to him.

23. Post reads "Gym Flooring" and its just used stall mats and he wont go less than $50 a mat (when there is 4 tractor supply stores in a 30 mile radius that sells for $40)

24. When they refuse to meet you at a local location (walmart, cofee shop,etc.) when its a simple small item that can be transported. ( I hate going to peoples house, always feel like im gonna be set up)

25. When they sell a piece of crap power rack for $400 (happens all the time on my local CL)

26. When they sell semi-rusted 300lb olympic weight set for $150 (local academy sports sells them for $140 new like 4x a year)

gee i should feel lucky considering all the rusty weights i've sold for $110 and $120 bucks then . the first one was less than 300 pounds, more like 225 pounds at the most. it included a45 pound bar though

You post five copies of your ad all on the same day;

You PUT EVERYTHING IN ALL CAPS;

You use stupid little symbols to draw attention to your ad;

You place the same ad all over the state;

Or, you use exclamation marks.

I don't mind when they lowball in person, because I know that if they're interested enough to make the drive over here to look at what I'm selling, they probably have my asking price in their pocket. Play hard ball and be prepared to walk away if you can't get what you want out of them. Most of the time they'll give in and raise their offer.

I atually enjoy the haggling, but I do my research before I list my items, so I have a good idea what my stuff is worth in my local market.

Yup. Deals for fitness equipment or fishing gear are done here, but deals for firearms are done in a public place during daylight.

Hehehe....this hits kind of close to home.....a few months ago I had a guy who responded to my ad for a set of weights. I made arrangements for him to stop by one night after work, but for whatever reason I didn't give him the address right then. I didn't hear back from him until the next day. In the intervening time, I checked out his Facebook page. He mentioned that he had just been released from jail a month or two before, and one of his pictures showed him with a bunch of guys. He was holding a beer in one hand and a pistol in the other. When I heard back from him the next day, I told him that I had some errands to run that night, and could meet him at the local Walmart, which was closer to him anyway. He never showed.

I'm gonna stick it on ebay as well, I have seen a few other drawers of the same model going for circa £120 bidding.
