Because people have a few drinks, they like the buzz and like how they feel, so they think "well a few more and this will be even better." Then they usually act stupid and have a hang over like you said.

fuark I get such bad hangovers, I feel like an old man now. When I was 17, I used to be one of those *******s that said "I'm just one of those people that doesn't get hangovers." Fast forward 5 years, after a usual night out I'm 100% out of commission until at least 3pm the next day.

Pretty much this. I used to binge drink a lot, but now I keep it pretty low key for the most part. Spend a semester sober just to see what it was like.
