PHAT isn't a specific workout routine, its a system..One heavy day one hypertrophy day for each muscle group.

Idk, I think some study says stretching decreases strength immediately afterwards or something. But I lightly stretch anyway (I do my own routine). I'd rather have be loosened up a bit and be slightly weaker then have max strength and more likely to get injured. (not sure if broscience)

should I do a beginner program or strength or go all out and do PHAT and blast body for a bit

I want to get best results from muscle memory (not correct word - but everyone understands what I mean - my muscles should grow easier due to used to being biggish + similar to beginner gains)... HALP

going to eat at around maintenance as I have done research and this looks like best place to sit for a few months and then adjust - but can;t find clear info on which program
Start off doing beginner with lighter weights until you get a base level of strength and stamina first. If you jump in and go balls to the wall you risk injury and/or burnout.

Static stretching reduces strength before lifting. Do this before lifting lower body:

SS is a good program to get your strength up in the main lifts, especially if you haven't lifted before.

That doesn't make much sense; different people will lift different amounts of weight at different periods of time in their 'progress'.

intermediate just means that you don't see linear gains (adding 5 lbs a workout), and probably add 5lbs a week instead

    alternatively, exrx says

    Untrained

Expected level of strength in a healthy individual who has not trained on the exercise before but can performit correctly. This represents the minimum level of strength required to maintain a reasonable quality of life in a sedentary individual.
    Novice

A person training regularly for a period of 3-9 months. This strength level supports the demands of vigorous recreational activities.
    Intermediate

A person who has engaged in regular training for up to two years. The intermediate level indicates some degree of specialization in the exercises and a high level of performance at the recreational level.
    Advanced

An individual with multi-year training experience with definite goals in the higher levels of competitive athletics.

    Elite

Refers specifically to athletes competing in strength sports. Less than 1% of the weight training population will attain this level.

but even their numbers, although low, are, at 165bw, 185 bench, 250 squat and 295 deadlift

    Oh for sure.
But those are just benchmark numbers for the big 3 lifts.

If you're not 3/3 then you're lagging in one or more bodyparts, which means an underdeveloped base.

because too many ******* spend too much time weight lifting while they can barley even bench 45 plates

starting strength is for begginners and others who have low lifts imo you should stick with SS unless you're repping over 200lbs

People really take starting strength out of the primary purpose which is to help beginners create a foundation for themselves and get the basics down. It's to make significant use of noob gainz and develop a decent amount of strength and practice form not become the next Arnold.

    It's for the general population.

    It's pre-made.

    It doesn't take thinking.

Amen; why I get downvoted for a lot of my posts, but then you got people like silverhydra (who they worship) calling me his favorite critic.

I'm Eurysthenes there if you ever come across me.

Reddit is in general crap but some of the subreddits are absolute gold. /r/mma is probably the best MMA forum on the web I've found and /r/NFL and /r/cfb are so refreshing since they aren't infested with ******* homers like most sports forums *cough*sportsmisc*cough

Bigger than Sherdog? I haven't followed MMA in a while but would be really surprised if something actually surpassed them.

Not bigger. Better. Nearly everyone practices some form of martial art and the comments are almost always insightful and have depth. Very knowledgeable place. /r/BJJ is also a goldmine for jiu-jiteiros.

Sherdog is filled with wannabe TAPOUT *******s now.

    this

Although /r/bodybuilding is starting to turn into ****, probably from /r/fitness *******s. I like /r/advancedfitness for the studies that get posted, it's a lot more high brow than /r/fitness.

This is why people new to reddit should avoid the default subreddits at all cost. If you can get past the atheist-Carl Sagan-bleeding heart-neckbeard-white knight circlejerk, there's a lot of good info on that site.
