Looking for exercise ideas to be targeted as a singles event. This isn't a regularly running class. Would you do anything specific or just run your normal class and follow it with a happy hour / group dinner? I can run a bootcamp with more partners, like medicine ball tosses. Circuit lifting would be easy enough but not very interactive. There's plenty of outdoor stuff I'd sponsor in the summer, vball, flag football, kickball. I'll be teaming up with a local singles event host and run it for free.
For example with basketball I would team people up and have a free throw contest between the teams, or dribbling relays, sadly we have no Bball court. I do have access to a swimming pool and could do team relays and water sports, but I'm afraid singles will be too self conscious to meet at the pool.
Any ideas?

Have them do a fun circuit that encourages interaction. Wouldn't even go near a pool as most will be put off by that. Just have people do something that interacts.
And dont do a sodding happy hour afterwards. Why undo all the good work of your workout session by drinking straight afterwards?High quality Home Personal Training in Edinburgh, UK.

Do you have access to a gym? Dodge ball is an awesome option because it is team, fun and doesn't require any skill.
Also, you could run it kind of like speed dating - every ten minutes you change partners for whatever you are doing. You just have to make sure there is an even guy/girl ratio. Tough to pull off but it is a great idea, especially if you can get access to a singles database.
I shudder to say it, but even Crossfit is generally good for singles crowds because there is lots of interaction from people cheering others on, high fiving, etc.

The bootcamp room was the basketball court but it's been remodeled. Might be able to play dodgeball there if we really clean it up but I'm afraid people will run into stuff. I like the idea though.
I'm ok with happy hour because the concept is about both socializing and being active. It's not a weight loss bootcamp.
Thanks for the input everyone.
Woofie, you know the magical thing about the fitness industry is it's one place that's dominated by women! I went to a local fitness research presentation/networking thing and a classroom of about 25 people only had 3 guys show. Actually speed dating is often short for men too. I'm on a email list for one place and always getting emails offering guys to show for free. If girls show I'm pretty sure I can find guys to match.Last edited by pcproffy; 12-28-2012 at 01:07 AM.
