Due to being sick haven't been very active this week. Feeling better today and hoping to feel good enough for the gym tomorrow. Did do a weigh in this morning making sure at least my diet was working. I've officially reached the 360's. can't remember the last time I weighed that. Makin progress the right direction.

Nice work, sidewayz. I have to say...sometimes the most motivating posts that I read are the ones where somebody is not executing 100% on their intended dieting and exercise plans, but still manages to execute, say 70 or 80%, and doesn't fall off the wagon.

I have been a slave to the 'all or nothing' attitude for much of the past two years (hence my bingeing), and it is very encouraging to see people make great progress even when things don't go exactly to plan. Makes me realize that one slip-up doesn't have to always ruin an entire week. *

    Diet break doesn't = binge.

I was going to post anyways but it's relate-able. For whatever reason, I haven't lost any weight in the last two weeks (stuck @ 183) but I have more definition in abs and bicep veins are more prevalent. Before you say "waterweight d-bag", I've been weighing myself daily and have fluctuated at or above 183 but never below. Same time, errytim. The definition isn't like I've all the sudden dropped to 8%, but it's definitely noticable progress. What gives??

For all I've read and try to understand, my body still just doesn't make sense.

This isn't a pop at you, but I don't understand the all or nothing attitude so many people seem to have. I think it is the reason that 90% of people stop with their fitness goals. We all have bad days, but it's far better to try to minimize damage than go completely off the rails.

Totally agree on this, it's so easy when one thing goes wrong to just say screw it and give up, props for sticking with the diet. I know when I can't hit the gym it's hard for me to eat good. Keep up the good attitude and you'll accomplish your goals no problem.

I don't understand it either...but it is something that I have dealt with. I still deal with it. For whatever reason, one little slip up can send people into a state of mind where "Sheet, that one candy bar ruined my macros for the day, so today is ruined. I may as well eat 7 more candy bars since today is shot and then start over tomorrow."

It's not nearly as bad for me as it was a year ago. It's something that I've had to learn to overcome. *One thing that has helped me most recently is a weekly refeed. I basically shave a few calories off 6 days per week and then add those cals onto one of my weekend days. So, for me instead of eating 2k per day, I eat 1900 6x per week and 2600 1x per week. It all averages out to the same in the end.

I'd give it another week or two. There's no way you're not in a deficit at your cals. Plus, you had a small stint with Y, so maybe that is messin you up a bit. I'm sure you'll whoosh within the next week or so. *

It's just how people are wired. Whether it stems from ts their upbringing, genetics ..etc, it doesn't matter. To say that it's down to choice is pretty short sighted though.

I guess I'm wired different to most then. I really don't see how putting the cookie down isn't a choice though.

Agree with matman. I believe we all made a choice for our entire life to eat healthy. You can slip one day but in the long run(10 years), it doesn´t matter. I actually like the 1-day-a-week-bingeathon where you can eat whatever the hell you want. Won´t make a difference if you are on top of the diet for the rest of the week.

My squats and deadlifts are steadily getting stronger and stronger. I did 5x5 squats today, 195, 225, 250, 230, 240. 250 lbs for 5 reps is again a new PR. Every time I hit the gym i'm seeing new PRs while eating at a huge deficit.

    >feelsgoodman.jpg

However my bench and main "pushing" exercises aren't really raising that much. I'm squatting 250 lbs and only benching around 140. Hopefully soon enough my bench will start raising. Overhead press is also pretty weak. Dat weak upper body.

Once I started counting calories and hitting my fat and protein macros, I see it nearly impossible for me to fall off the wagon. Once I started counting calories steadily for a few weeks, it began to get programmed into my mind of watching the calories in everything I eat. I feel like once your mind gets programmed like that, it's nearly impossible to go devour a whole pizza or something like that. Even if I want a "dirty" meal, I have to watch the calories and don't go over. I'd tell anybody that my key to success this time around is precisely counting everything that goes into my mouth.

Sorry for my random long posts, I use this thread almost as my little fat loss blog and just post my thoughts on things for the day. It keeps me motivated and hopefully helps some people out

First trip back to the gym tonight since giving my wrist a rest (injured left wrist, any pushing or twisting motion hurts like hell). Hoping it's a pain-free trip because I've missed lifting. I also find it a lot harder to stick to eating the way I need to when I'm not hitting the gym.

This i totally agree with. I've been counting calories for around 40 days now. I've seen great success with it. But I also can't eat anything without calories running through my mind. I can't go shopping for groceries or anything without picking up several items in the same section and finding the one with the best calorie #'s.

As far as the weak upper body compared to legs goes I have the same thing. Not sure what my max is on anything, as I go to the gym alone and don't want to max out, not be able to lift it and then not have a spotter. But It may have something to do with us being so heavy, our legs carried that weight for so long the muscles grew a little bigger.

Bought a new gi for myself from a brown belt at our gym for a really good price (20€). Really motivates to get rolling because 2 weeks ago I was sick, last week I felt lazy as fox and this week theres a camp that I can't afford and there aren't any regurlar classes. Can't wait for next week!

But on the other hand I've been busting my butt at the gym like today 230lbs squat for 10reps at yesterday 100lbs OHP for 7reps. Tomorrows bench day B).

However my bench and main "pushing" exercises aren't really raising that much. I'm squatting 250 lbs and only benching around 140. Hopefully soon enough my bench will start raising. Overhead press is also pretty weak. Dat weak upper body.
Awesome! What routine are you running? And I know how you feel. Sometimes I just loved to start a post in here like "Dear diary".

I hope everyone is doing well.

I am determined once again to do this and determined to somehow be in the top 3 at the end of this despite having gained half of what I lost back.

I won't say more as I don't want to un-motivate people or whatever but I shall weigh in this Sunday and hopefully be some way towards righting my wrongs.

    All the best to everyone

As far as the weak upper body compared to legs goes I have the same thing. Not sure what my max is on anything, as I go to the gym alone and don't want to max out, not be able to lift it and then not have a spotter. But It may have something to do with us being so heavy, our legs carried that weight for so long the muscles grew a little bigger.
that's the way I always saw it. My legs and core are probably stronger/as strong as others who have been working out for years. Obviously if I did squats at 320 lbs, I could lose 100 pounds and still have the muscles there for heavier weights.

I've been doing Starting Strength for about 3 months to get back the strength I had after an injury. Just this week I switched over to Jason Blaha's 5x5.

Agreed with the legs/core muscles are stronger due to carrying around the weight. Definitely seems that way. I don't mind though, reading around this forum made me love lifts like squats and deadlifts rather than being a curl ******* at the gym, so I like to watch those lifts get better

It was a great game. But ended fair as a draw in my eyes, both sides had huge chances that weren't used. Where do you bet?
