I'll be breaking my routine diet as well. Its a holiday that comes once a year, and if you cant enjoy yourself a bit a few days out of the year, your BBing has probably gone from healthy routine to unhealthy obsession.
Really, even if you slam an extra 3500 calories over maintenance, thats only 1 lb gained. It would work itself off in a week....worth it IMO

FUK NO to sticking to the diet!
Been dieting for 21 weeks, finishing in 1 week. Gonna use Xmas day as my celebration day.
I am going to unleash into everything and anything i want, not gonna even give 2 shiits about the amount of calories, fats, carbs, protein i eat...i am just going to be a normal person for 1 day and eat as much as i want. Will not be surprised if i have 6-8k+ cals tomorrow.
It's Xmas, it happens once a year, its a time to enjoy and celebrate with the family. Enjoy it and forget about your fkin macros for 1 bloody day!★★★ I was part of Ultra 2013 Thread Crew ★★★

I'm gonna cheat that day. My family is gonna have a huge feast with every one of my cousins over. Probably cheat the most with the ham. Only happens once a year so why not?
Edit: I'm Muslim, no I won't be cheating lolMy story:

Hell no. I have been eating well over my daily needs for a week now, and I'll continue to do so for another one.
I am a student, I live pretty far away from home (where I'm at the moment), and I can always diet, but I can't always eat mom's cookies and mom's home made goodness. And even though I feel fat as **** now, and my chin up performance is suffering, I was able to suddenly bench 10 kg more than two weeks ago for several reps, rofl.
Eat up, and: Merry Christmas*, everyone!
*or whatever doesn't offend you
Great food is always worth it. It's not "losing progress", it also has some benefits. Mood, energy, and (if you're overfeeding a bit longer than planned ) your metabolism (which has slowed down from prolonged dieting) will improve. Positive thinking, bro!

Nope, but thanks to having an active job, and IF'ing, I'll probably be going into both my christmas dinners (ya, I get 2, Christmas eve and Christmas day) with around 3000cal left for the day. That should just about cover what I'll eat in dessert....

Depends what's on the table available.
Our Xmas' are usually pretty healthy though. Meat and seafood and vegetables and salads. Even if there was tons of ****, i'm not personally tempted by **** anyway, so it being there hypothetically doesn't affect my mindset whatsoever.
Calorie/macro-wise, i can eyeball say 200-300g of meat. Likewise starchy carbs.
I don't agree with the idea that you HAVE to have a cheat meal/day just because it's Xmas. You can have a cheat meal/day whenever you physically want, you just choose when. You can choose not to cheat on Xmas day or you can choose to stick to plan.Last edited by Simmo0508; 12-23-2012 at 12:00 PM.

Slightly screwed for Xmas regardless of what I want to do.
Xmas eve I traditionally go out for a few drinks most of the day, and Xmas day I have 3 dinners (work, gf, mums) plus seconds and chocolate. Then Boxing Day I'm off to watch football (soccer) a few hours away so be tricky to keep to a normal diet although I'll try keep under my normal cals intake if possible. I IF so I'll be okay Boxing Day going without food till the evening, but can't guarantee ill stick within cals lol.
But hey, cest le vie and all that.

I'll cheat. I've been on maintenance or a slight surplus the past couple of days and i'll definitely be on a surplus for the next 3 days at least. After that just continue my cut like normal. Life goes on, If i put on a couple of pounds thats only and extra week/ week and a half on my cut.

I don't really like holiday food all that much. But I may use the occasion to eat things I really really want to have, but I doubt I'll go over maintenance.
I honestly don't every find it hard eating less than maintenance unless I want pizza or alcohol. Any other foods and I can pretty easily stay on diet.

+1 - Christmas week from Christmas Eve to January 2nd is always a no counting macros/calories festive family celebration eating fest. The rest of the year I tow the line - letting go and enjoying with the family for 7/365 is not really a question. I don't binge, but if I feel like pie or an extra entire plate of mashed potatoes, I eat it and don't give it a 2nd thought. Eat until comfortable, stop, eat when hungry...the secret family delicious foods are only around once a year better take advantage. I always start the New Year with a chunk of water weight but it falls off quickly and whatever doesn't I figure I enjoyed the holidays with the people that I care about and that's what matters and likely if you literally ate desserts for a week you wouldn't put on more than 10 actual lbs of fat and it can always be lost in the New Year when you're fueled up for some great workouts. Happy Holidays, let the festivities begin!

I'm prepping for my first contest in March. There is no way I am going to cheat. I already have successfully dieted through Thanksgiving and my birthday. As for Christmas, sticking to regular cutting diet and exercise routine. I have to work that day anyway, and I am thousands of miles from my family, so it will be easy.
