is extrapolatin'
That is some REALLY nice craftsmanship.
Just a thought: throw some handles on the back and you would have a dip station too!

Home gym 'til I die.
Those welds are beautiful. Good move putting the bars through the box section for maximum strength too. What are you planning on coating it with?

Good Idea! I have a old Universal Dip/VKR that cost me $15 off Craigslist. I have to redo the pads, but its a keeper. There are now bar holders on the back side to hold four small bars vertically.

Rust oleum Hammered Finish (Black) I think it was Skidmarx that mentioned it. I have had on my calf block for a year and a half and its very tough paint and its easy to touch up. The only slight gripe I have is the black is more of a dark grey, but it works!

Keeping it simple
looks nice, first the Jcups now weight rack.
It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website regulary to educate themselves for FREE

Nice work! I like the idea about adding dip handles also. I want a dip/weight stand for my home gym.

Its plain Tig welding. I have a Mig welder too, but hardly ever use it unless the metal is dirty and cant be cleaned or there are huge gaps to fill.

Nicely done. Once you paint it you'll have a plate rack that's surpasses the majority of what's available at retail.
How long are the posts and how much does the unit weigh?

I'm not sure of the weight, but its a lot heavier than any of my other trees. The pegs are 8" sides -10" middle.

Registered you, sir.

Great work again Don! Can't wait to see what else you whip up in the future. Reps again on spread.

No more stuff out of the shop for a while. Stacking weight on the closet floor was a pain and the Gpr378 j hooks bugged me. I'm really pleased with the rest of the rack for $400 though. I have a break from school and those two things were on the to do list. Now I have to get some homework done before class starts again in a few weeks. I want to work on making some real nice adjustable dumbbell handles. I purchased a really nice vintage knurler off eBay UK, but I need to practice getting the pattern set up right on the lathe, so that will have to wait a month or so.
