I hope this Motivates people. I was 238lbs at 5'8 January first 2012. The heaviest Iv ever been. I had health issues, and the doctor wanted to put me on a bunch of pills. I said screw that. I'm doing this on my own. My huge motivation was my son. I didn't want him growing up, and having a un-healthy dad. So I quit cold turkey, of all the fast food, soda, etc.... A buddy of mine is huge into body building, and offered to help me out. First 3 months he got me on tract. After the 3 months was up, I was on my own. IT's been almost a year now, and I'm down to 185 at 15% body fat. I lost 13 inches of my waist; size 38 pants to a size 32. My goal is to get to 10% by May. Iv been doing a recomp, and have been pretty successful at it. At a rate of 1.2 % body fat lose while maintaining my weight of 185lbs
As the months went on I keep changing things up as my work-outs and what I ate, so I wouldn't plateau. 6 months in, I made a huge mistake; and quit working out and just ran. I was running 6 days a week, roughly 30 miles a week. When I decided to stop, I went back to the gym to start lifting, and holy cow was I weak. Iv been back at the gym for about 4 months now, and have all my strength back and some. Iv been doing 12 week programs that Iv found on this site, and the results are amazing.
Iv done everything with out any supplements. I have a very balanced diet; I eat 6 times a day and drink about a gallon of water a day. For protein I eat lots and lots of chicken. My weekly grocery bill gets kind of expensive lol. I cant do protein powder shakes. Makes my stomach upset. Whether it be with milk or water. Iv been eating around 1800-2000 calories a day. I do use a calorie counter and weight out my food. Here are my pictures, tell me what you guys think?

Great job man, im on a similar path, gone from 358-230 since january, didnt start lifting properly do until june. I want to get down to 190/200 in 2013. Cant wait for that there recomp!
One man has enthusiasm for 30 minutes, another for 30 days, but it is the man who has it for 30 years who makes a success of his life.
My journey from 358lbs started January of 2012.
1. Trust yourself 2. Break some rules 3. Don't be afraid to fail 4. Ignore the naysayers 5. Work like hell 6. Give something back |

hey OP i just got a question about what you said that you changed up your diet every now and then so you wouldn't plateau. care to elaborate further on this ? I just can't conceptualise it, i mean seeing your join date i'm sure you know that basically in order to get thin just eat at a calorie deficit, to get swole eat at a surplus, sooo i just don't understand how changing your diet in relation to calorie counting helps ??
And btw, I think it's damn awesome that you're doing this for your kid Lucky he has a dad like you mate
