I did 275 x 1 today.. felt dangerous lol
I usually do around 180 for around 10 reps. I'm going to start doing like 25 reps though. I'm probably a pussy but I don't like the feeling of heavy deadlifts.

I know what you mean. With all of the back injuries around and what not (SERP) I'm really scared to push myself for fear of "ripping my spine out of my back"
Phoenixr2 this is where I'll eat crow and admit I would enjoy a PT to show me how to deadlift without killing my back.
EDIT: and I mean a good PT who can properly correct form, not some bro-science spitting douche....Last edited by cunfewzed; 01-10-2013 at 01:31 PM.

I just deadlifted today for the first time ever, basically (tried it once a year or two ago). 185 for one set of 8 reps. Felt ridiculously easy. Going to try 200 next time out and then add more gradually from there depending on how I do

There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

I think I did 235 for 5 last time I DLed.
Speaking of back problems I damn near paralyzed myself this morning. My upper back has been hurting a bit for a few days, I thought I was just sleeping weird. Then this morning I finished a set of push-ups. When I got up it felt like someone stabbed the bottom of my left trap. Been stiff as hell all day.
Got out of work early luckily. Now it's just me, the iPad, and my heating pad."The hardship of the exercises is intended less to strengthen the back than to toughen the mind. The Spartans say that any army may win while it still has it's legs under it; the real test comes when all strength has fled and the men must produce victory on will alone." (Pressfield,1998, p.78)

any shoulder discomfort with it? if my bench or push up form isnt perfect, ill get such bad shoulder pain that can radiate to my trap with a stabbing feeling. i mean, it can get so bad that it makes me cringe just raising my arm up in front of me ie: front raise, but with just the weight of my arm.

It was a dark and stormy night. My Fitness Pal said I had still to cram in 62 grams of protein, though I only had 96 calories remaining for the day. It was the Phad Thai that I had for lunch that was playing all hell with my macros, but there was no going back. It was too late for the old fingers-in-the-throat trick, that 4-star-spicy Thai food was too far along it's journey towards an inevitably painful departure.
My father used to say, “Hindsight is 20/20. And IIFYM is a dirty, sneaky bitch. Eat clean, son!”. Damn right, dad.
Damn right.
