Lots. That's the thing most people don't realize.
Failure to one set or one short workout is one thing. But people quit way earlier than they HAVE to, and never push nearly as much as the body is capable of.
I'm not saying that its smart or necessary to do anything more than than a "typical" workout regime. I'm just saying the VAST majority of people don't have the slightest clue what they can actually do.
Edit: the week I did mid-January was designed to be harder than Navy SEALs Hell Week. I forced myself to rest on the Saturday even though I didn't want to, and by Monday I was ready to go again. The week was hard, no doubt. But I'm not special. I just don't give up when 99.99999% would.1175 @172

There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

Trying to say I don't know what working hard is? I often get to the point where I feel like hurling, get dizzy, can't walk properly because my legs feel like jelly, or can't hit the speed bag any longer because my arms are like rubber bands. I have passed out before during workouts out of sheer exhaustion. My trainer was Gerd Wolf in Germany...father of former middleweight champion of Germany Mirko Wolf...who he trained. I know what working hard looks like
EDIT: This is a picture of me with Mr. Wolf in the German newspaper after winning my first tournament in case there are any doubts.

You have to admit, you did kinda make it seem that way. And I didn't take it as offense so much as you questioning whether or not I know what working hard is. And yes, I will always think I can give more, because I am hard on myself and want to be better than anyone. I also feel like I could give more when I pass out...but obviously that's not logical lol. I will always feel like I'm not doing enough, but that stems from other psychological factors rather than tapping into my physical ability.

I still doubt anyone here has pushes to their physical limit over longer durations though. I'd put some of the stuff I've done over prolonged periods up against anyone, and I know I haven't touched my physical limit. The body is incredible. (Some better than others, sorry Moore!)

Right. That's not my point. My point is basically no one in modern society knows what hard is.
Top notch MMA fighters are a perfect example. They annihilate my conditioning. It's not even close. But I know full well I'm capable of it given a different work schedule. They work hard. People that go to the gym 4 days a week aren't "pushing it".1175 @172

saw a guy squattin 3 plates on each side in the squat rack the other day going about 1/2" down..that's right, ONE HALF INCH down, and walking around with a puffed out chest after he did it like did something.
i literally said out loud what the hell are you doing to myself....i could care less what people are doing but i couldnt help watch this douchebag. he's asking for some serious injury. he started with 135lbs and did 5 reps about halfway down..leaning forward, heels coming off ground, knees bending inward. so when i saw the 3 plates go on i lost it.
WHY?
still working my way up to 225lbs x 12reps on the squats... probably the end of this year i'll be there. and what i mean is to be able to rep 12 times no problemo; ie, be able to push 20 reps with max effort.
oh i forgot, i tried the 40 rep 100lb bench the other day for fun. it was my first warmup, could only get 32 reps. i had deadlifted & squatted prior, so I was down on energy.. still don't know if I could hit 40 thoughwww.grazethesky.com

1/2" squat crew checking in.
I do them once in awhile for fatigue. Unlock knees and bounce a bit. Scorches my quads after a bit.1175 @172
