Well I did my final exam for my course yesterday and turned in my report. Pretty sure I got my certificate, but I have to wait 5-7 weeks for the official result.

Did the low rep/heavy weights without going to failure again the last two days. I'm setting PR's on everything but it doesn't feel like I'm getting a good workout in because I don't get a pump with low reps.
Went from bodyweight dips to dips with 2 plates, 55 DB shoulder press to 70's, 25's to 50's for arm curls.. did like 235 today on chess press.. pump not even once.
I'm going to keep doing the no failure style for a couple weeks but if I don't look better in the mirror I'm going to go back to lifting pink dumbells till failure every set. I don't care about being strong.

That's great man. I remember reading something about lifting heavy lower rep increases "density" or hardness of muscles better than higher rep training due to a higher rate of myofibrillar hypertrophy than sarcoplasmic or something like that........ So I'm doing that too now.

We'll see I guess. I see a lot of people that lift really heavy and 9/10 have a big blocky look. I would rather 16 inch arms with a peak than 18 inches and not much going on.
I'm being open minded and changing my workout style so I'm going to give it a month or two. People a lot smarter than me say its good so I'm going to try it.

I save failure for the last sets at the end of my workout. I do regularly fail on lifts, but just keep moving the program along.
The only measurement that counts, well one of two anyway, for me, is my waist. The other one hasn't changed since puberty, it just lists to the right more these days....Last edited by truushot; 12-22-2012 at 04:28 PM.

Didn't read the last few pgs but skimmed.
BK I did try not lifting to failure and had the exact results that you're having. No pump. Hell, not much in the DOmS dept either but lifts have gone up. I don't really like it.
Out of town at my wife's family's house til wed. The goal is not to GAIN. Shooting for maintenance with all of the farkin cookies around. Diet break FTW.

Off to the family for a few days for christmas , bringing my two 60lbs dumbells to do some high rep leg and abs workout so i dont miss out on workouts!
