    Competing naturally

    Hey, I am very new to bodybuilding, been at the gym for 7months, only weightlifting for 4months.
    However I really would like to compete, if I could, in fitness competitions like the miami pro some day.
    I am saying in 2-3years+.

    I told this to one of my trainers and they said I could never do it naturally and if I was gonna go to that level needed to take steroids, I am 6'3, 13% BF and at 84kg, with LBM 73kg.

    Is it really impossible to compete in those competitions roid-free?

    Yes there are competitions tested. I know alot of people who compete and dont use roids.

    My trainers said they used to take roids, and now don't but most of the gains are still there.
    Is this true?

    What I am asking is, with a great diet/great workout/good motivation, will I be able to compete some time within the next 5-10years?

    With time, proper diet, and a solid traning program anything is possible. Although genetics will be a large factor in going far.

    Alright, I have been overweight all my life, no idea what my genetics are like, but I am putting on mass fast. Probably just newb gains!

    Just remember everyone will tell you anything because they are either negative in nature, or do not have the mental capability. Visualize what you dream and go after it, do not give up and when it gets hard you push even harder. All my life people said I was silly and I would never get what I had dreamed so badly to achieve, my actions have proven them all to be very wrong.

    change your trainer! i'm doing a fitness comp next year, and its been 10 month ive been training. You'll have to be dedicated at 120% with your diet and training...

    I have no problem being 100% dedicated to my diet, the thing is I need someone to guide me to what my diet should be like, I have seen a lot of contradictory info online.

    You should get a trainer that has done some competition in the past. he should know which diet/training plan you should be doing. Each diet depands on your type of body, wich part you should work more (more complex carbs that day)...it is possible to do it by reseaching on the net but you should find a trainer that knows what he is doing to get the maximum results....

    ok another thing, my parents are not giving me any money since they don't support my gym etc... So I am on my own, there is no way I can afford a trainer.
    And I am on a tiny island with mostly overweight people.
    I guess I will have to survive until next year, going to scotland to study then. Hope to meet some good trainers, who are willing to coach me for free.

    If you are 100% serious there is plenty of info on this forum to get you to the level you want. First thing i would do is check out the nutrition section under emma-leigh and check out the info on calories/macros. That will clear up the diet aspect of your goals. Then you need a routine, i would check out p/p/l split or a bro split type routine. You can find different routines in the exercise section. You should be doing a routine with bench press, military press, deadlifts, and squats. These are your major compound lifts if you can improve them you will grow. As for competitions check out the prep section, seriously if you want it bad enough just use the resources on this forum. Good luck with your goals.

    this!! I have always been a natural competitor and there are usually many natural organizations around that you can participate in, I had to do some research to find them in my area, but it is entirely possible to find one that does test it's participants in some format

    worst case scenario, just go compete as a natural anyways! sure you may not be as big as some of the other competitors but bodybuilding is all about the individual pursuit. if you know you have put in all the effort and have gotten such a neat result all natural, power to you.

    I would suggest you change trainer. He has a terrible attitude. True many competitors do use but that does not mean you can not compete nor does it mean you can not win.
    I was told the same thing yet I won UKBFF Men's Physique Class totally natural. Didn't even use fat burners (they give me a sore throat or have me taking a dump every hour).
    However If I was your trainer i'd tell you to forget about training to compete. Forget about bulking/cutting for at least a year or two til you have a solid foundation.
