Thanks.
I personally don't train traps all too often anymore as they quickly overpower everything/grow too fast on my build.. now I just work them if I notice one being large than the other to balance them out really.
My recommendations/favorites..
Traps:
-Rack Pull + shrug, let the bar sit on the safety bars/pause between reps for a second or two.. pause at the top. Heavy weight
-DB Shrugs leaning forward as to get a better stretch. High Reps
Never really needed more than those two when done right
Lateral Delts:
-Seated DB Lateral Raises
-ExtraWide Grip upright rows
-Cable Lateral Raises
-Heavy OH Pressing.IG: @West_Whey

Those were in lbs
My previous lifts were
Squat 115lbs 3x5
Bench 75lbs 3x5
Deadlift 90lbs 1x5
So it took me a while to build up strength, I had no muscle memory, no CNS training, no proper diet, just a lazy ass skinny gamer.
Diet wise right now I eat anything and at the end of the day/ after a workout I drink a shake that fills my macros in 1600 calories ~100gs of protein ~160Gs carbs (I also get macros from regular food) Mostly I eat chicken, eggs, whole milk beans and rice.
Also, i'm trying to be a bodybuilder such as yourself, not a powerlifter, however I do want to get my strength up an intermediate level and then focus on my aesthetics. Im not sure if that's pointless, but I guess you could give me tips on that aswell.
I appreciate the effort you put to help newbies like me, thanks.Last edited by ProteinShred; 12-21-2012 at 02:01 PM.

You could have made better progress during that time imo..
"noob gains" is the peroid in which straight up linear progress is commen at the start of lifting.. you said 8 months(32 weeks?), a lot of nattys add 5lb a week onto their lifts.. meaning many of them would of added 100+lb's during those months(possible but not 100% expected).
Aside from the "eat anything" comment, your diet seems relatively fine from a vague standpoint.
Your goal of getting your strength up a tad before focusing on hypertophy is a good plan.
hahha thank's for the kind words bros.
I'll continue to neg you if you continue to imply drug use and my physique as unobtainable natural while I have natural friends the same age who dwarf me with an extra 10-15lb LBM on their builds.
Wrong idea?
The only wrong idea is created by people like you who go around telling people what they can't do.IG: @West_Whey

This was OP through first half of high school:
And honestly not all too much, I'm more into having one HBB as my exclusive over random bishes. srs
haha no worries brah, I enjoy giving out advice, since no one ever gave it to me when I started.
Yes. I make sure to keep my shoulder blades retracted and only raising bar until elbows are parallel in my wide upright rows.
I also usually do them for high reps as I want to avoid an injury which they are so common for.
I say natty and years of hard work, others say otherwise.
People can honestly think whatever they want, everyone has their own opinion and is entitled to it.
I made this thread to offer advice, so teens coming in to troll about their drug use-to-body composition ratios should be expected to be negged/ignored.IG: @West_Whey

Thanks for the great response, I ought to be paying you for this haha. You should consider becoming a personal trainer on your spare time. So I guess I will stick to babylover's SS mod routine until my lifts are deemed good, but what should I do for hypertophy? What program do you recommend I do for that?
That is all I have to ask, so I won't bother you any further, thanks!
Also, the reason my gains were probably slow was because when I was completely new to fitness, I didn't pay much attention to my diet. It was when I discovered the weight gainer shakes that everything changed and I started understanding diet. It probably took me 4-6 months to figure that out.Last edited by ProteinShred; 12-21-2012 at 07:41 PM.

No problem brah, go hard.
Times do get tough, you will get discouraged, but those are the moment which make or break us. Persevere and truly succeed.
I'd say the whole "Stick with heavy compounds if you want big arms" but that's not enough when you want them to be a strong point.
Really what has worked for me is doing my normal heavy compounds then throwing in a couple sets of isolations after.. using a FULL range of motion.
The hardest part of getting what I thought was a good ROM for the muscles was excise selection.
For Triceps:
-Overhead work(French press & DB extensions) so you can get a good stretch
-Heavy Tricep dips(chest up, elbows close)
For Biceps:
-Single Arm Cable Curls(walk out a bit so your arm is pulled back)
-Close Grip Preacher Curls.. this is my favorite bicep exercise
I'm actually studying Corrective Exercise at the National Academy of Sports Medicine so I can do just that at the moment..
That would be a good plan.
Honestly hypertrophy routines vary greatly.. you can stick with a cookie-cutter routine, or tailor one to your own goals(which I recommend).
For hypertrophy I recommend a split where you lift 4 ON/1 OFF and REPEAT.
Diet is one of the hardest part.
Me especially.. I love food.
My Go-To foods:
Protein- Chicken Breast, Eggs, Tilapia, Tuna, Steak
Carbs- Brown Rice, Steel Cut Oats, Bananas, Veggies
Fats- Egg Yolks, EVOO, Peanut/Almond Butter, Fish OilIG: @West_Whey
