You don;t know the circumstances though. How many sets did Poundstone do before that?

    Kai...still ridiculously impressive.

who cares, strongmen have to train for unconventional lifts as well as just regular lifting, unlike a bodybuilder whos focus for 20 years is the same lifts.

and for the record, kai does train heavy, he just trains heavy for the higher rep ranges he uses and he often pre exhausts.

we see kai going up to low rep sets with 500 on flat bench and incline, this is no different than powerlifting training. powerlifting training is very similar to bodybuilding they just care about the weight being used more than some bodybuilders do, but the rep ranges and exercises dont have to be much different at all.
This. Still, when I look at guys like Poundstone or Pudzianoswki I can't help but think they are using far more Celltech than some of their peers too. Not trying to be a hater, but this mass must be much harder to retain when you stay this lean, compared to guys like Savickas and Shaw who don't seem to be overly concerned about their looks.

Either way, both of them are ridiculously strong. Shows though, that the best bodybuilders are also amongst the strongest human beings walking this earth. Should be pretty obvious for anybody who has a brain, but many n00bs out there are still not aware.

Imma be a cheeky kunt and say: I always thought Big Ron could have not only dominated bodybuilding for years, but also powerlifting if he had chosen to.

he did, and like DL said, he would have been a very good PL'er if he had chosen to go that route. Probably best that he didn't as there is no money in powerlifting unless you're at the very top and you're sponsored and even then most of the top PL'ers who are sponsored don't live off of PL'ing. At best you're just a legend to a small group of people who follow powerlifting. Bodybuilding has a bigger fan base and is easier to understand.

I sort of miss Kai's training videos with Oscar.

His high rep training is clearly delivering results but there's something special about seeing this guy rep 5 plates on bench etc.
We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.

I would start watching strongman if they added benchpressing into the list of events.

I seen britains strongest man recently and they were doing clean and jerk with some big ass weights. That was quite cool but yea they should throw a few powerlifting lifts in so us guys that train heavy can get a better grasp of how strong they really are.

guy is a beast, bar none the best guy out there
He said that he used to lift heavy and switched to lighter later in his career. He said heavy shoulder pressing did wonders for his triceps but nothing much for his shoulders so he went lighter to be able to better feel the muscle working

ok close enough. i thought it was 675 not 585. either way, the man had about a 2000 big 3 total while dieting for the olympia. if he was a fat happy powerlifter foreveroffseason, he couldve broken records and been one of the greatest ever.

Obviously. I'm saying strongman would be more fun if they added a couple of powerlifting lifts as well as all the crazy ****. It would give us an idea of how strong these guys are compared to dedicated powerlifters.

They usually have a squat, as well as a deadlift and an overhead press event in there. How much closer to Powerlifting do you want it, without actually becoming powerlifting? It's not that you should have a hard time to imagine their power when you see them press 200Kg+ straight over their head, without even using their legs and deadlift 400Kg for 20 reps.

ronnies squats were really really high, same with his front squats

incredibly strong, stronger than many "world class powerlifters", but ronnie trained for strength regardless of what anyone says, and took more gear than anyone youl probably ever see.

ronnie was definitely really strong, but without huge amounts of growth hormone he would have ruined his joints and tendons from all the training, and if strength was his main focus he would have tore tons of muscles and tendons and joints and never reached his size potential or strength potential.

powerlifters dont make $ off what they do, which is basically the truth with some exceptions, if there was as much $ in powerlifting as bodybuilding people would be lots of people making colemans squat/deadlift/bench look pathetic

what everyone here sees is is what comes from EXTREME drug abuse over 20+ years of training with HEAVY weights, and then they think "hes just a bodybuilder can you imagine if he cared about how much he lifted?"

I'm not gawnny lie, I'm a bench press junkie. I know it's not necessarily the most important excercise but its the one where I'd like to see what these guys can throw up.
