That's like getting rid of wide stance squats, or arched benches.
I felt the same way when I first got interested in powerlifting, but have since then noticed that most of the people who hate on sumo can't pull sumo.

Sounds like we'll end up with yet another fed. That's not really helping powerlifting.

Did a little research (aka googled it) and they've already watered themselves down. So now there will be TWO first place winners in each weight class......

So how come I have 5 medals for my 1 first place finish? They even gave me a gold medal one meet because they ran out of bronze medals. Atleast in USAPL Florida, even with all the divisions and weight classes, there is still 2-5 people in each so everyone gets a medal even if they just lifted the bar.

I haven't looked at results of other feds and states to see how those tend to run. If they wanted to increase their profit, if they even make any at all, they should just cut it to trophy for best male and best female and maybe medal for 2nd and 3rd best male and female. 2 trophies, 4 medals for the entire meet. Call it a day.

I know the meet I did last year everyone got a trophy. I'd much rather knock 10 bucks off my registration fees and not get a trophy for competing in my divisions alone, or for taking 2nd place out of 2 lifters.

So after an all day meet, you had to sit through an overly long awards ceremony.

Thats great at a national level meet but you can't do that at a state meet. The state meets in the USAPL and USPA are designed to get new lifters into the sport. Imagine a 17 year old kid who's been training like a madman for his first meet at the florida state meet and doesn't come home with a medal after getting 1st place. Medals are important, even if everyone gets one.

I do believe master's should be bumped up to 45 or 50 though.

Totally agree. Powerilfting seems to have pretty good staying power for guys into their 40's.

Yes, that would be a great turn out and uncommonly low number of registrations. That's not the norm for most local meets everywhere. Some struggle to get 10 people to show up.

No that was only the collegiate part of the meet. The state meet was on sunday so combined there were a lot more lifters.

The funny thing is, all of the people who hate on sumo and say its cheating are the guys who pull less sumo stance than they do conventional.
Otherwise, they'd be pulling sumo in meets to improve their total.

I like looking at meet results and miss the PLUSA mag for that alone and you'd very often see 10-20 actual people meets. Yes there are meets with a lot more turn out but a good meet across all feds across the US seems to be getting in around 20 people. I'm hoping now that I have easier access to a bigger fed like the USAPL I'll be exposed to more competition.

My parents have a couple that run off hairspray and they're a blast. I shot a hole through some particle board at about 20 yards.

i will say that my conventional ROM is probably less than your sumo ROM.

BRB, no manlets allowed in new fed. You have a short ROM and you're able to be jacked while being in lower weight classes.

New fed. Everyone must be 6' tall, can only wear a jock, must have ankles touching on the squat and deadlift, must be strapped down to the bench, and can't have a chest or belly bigger then 36"
