I will look into seeing if they could just fix the cartilage in my nose. Did the recovery period affect your training? Can you tell a big difference now?.

I had the surgery before I started training, and it was done specifically to increase my airflow.

But it involved having a full cotton pack in both nostrils with gauze folded and taped under my nose, as well as sponges inserted into my sinus cavities with strings dangling from my nostrils to pull them out for several weeks. You spend a lot of time swallowing blood, and more time dealing with mucus-covered scabs in your airway and throat. It's pretty disgusting. And the feeling of having the doc pull two bloody sponges, each the size of a piece of liver, out of your sinus cavities through your nose is one of the ...most unique I can imagine.

The incision didn't heal very quickly due to the natural moisture, so there was a lot of bleeding and changing of the gauze pack for a few weeks, and several MASSIVE spontaneous nosebleeds once everything was out, that required trips back to the doc to get the vein cauterized. Massive to the extent that, after driving myself to the hospital, I stopped, tried to get out of the car with my head tilted back, but failed. About a pint of blood came out of my face in one go, in a large SPLAT all over the garage. It was amusing.

Very little pain, though.


Afterwards, I could actually breathe from my right nostril -- something I couldn't do at all before -- and my nasal passages stopped completely collapsing when I'd sleep on my side. Now they only partially collapse.

I've since had surgery to have the turbinates (the folds of skin in your nose designed to shape airflow for various reasons) reduced, which was essentially going in with a scalpel and cutting out skin to widen my nasal passage. That's helped too.

I would steer clear of anything on that sight unless you want it to just beat the crap out of. Their stuff is the example of you get what you pay for. Check out edge fitness systems. He can custom make what ever you need the rack to be and isn't super expensive.

what's a good bar for squats and deadlift? trying to get a rack, bar and weights for less than $1k. should be possible since im finding racks for $300 and might be able to get the weights for dirt cheap from a garage sale.
