I don't think they are required to stamp them with anything and I don't think there is any requirement to preserve or not obscure any stampings that might be on the body. Aside from that, I'm not exactly sure what registering magazines is supposed to accomplish from an immediate practical standpoint. It's not like magazines leave a signature on a round so, well, it's just weird.

What it does is to allow the politician to get votes from uninformed anti-gun voters.
If I lived in CT, I think I'd buy a couple of magazines and register them even though I don't own a rifle to accept the magazines. I'm sure that would screw with the mind of some bureaucrat who cross checks the gun/magazine registration lists.

Sure, I get that. But it seems there had to be some kind of conversation that led up to this making it in the language, private or public. I would really like to hear what it was, more out of sick curiosity than anything. I often ask myself are the people saying this (whatever the 'this' happens to be) stupid or do they think we are so stupid as to not see the difference, or is it both?

I'm a competitve 3 gun shooter who has been on hiatus the last few years because of burnout and family. I wanted to wait until my kids were older to get back into it, b/c it's very time and money consuming, but with these new gun bans I think competitions are going to die out. Why? Because even though most places except NY aren't taking guns and magazines away from anyone, they're preventing new shooters from aquiring them thereby slowly strangling a sport that for most part is made up of older shooters.

I just checked a couple of my 30 rd P-mags and there are no marks other than type of rd it holds, manufacturer and the part number. there are no serial numbers or anything so how would it even be possible to register something like this and who would be asinine enough to actually bring theirs in for this stupid law?

Checked the AK mags. No markings whatsoever.

Picked up a Tapco stock for my SKS, oh no now it's going to be a scary black gun.

And slowly but surely ammo is becoming available again. AR's are easily obtainable for normal prices as well, few more weeks and we should be back to business as usual.

DHS just started buying up ammo again...few million they are trying to stock up on. I am beginning to think they are forcing shortages just long enough to go to war with US citizens.

Remember SP, facts are racist, and when you state facts, that makes you racist. This is the new wave of thinking.

What other reason would there be? Geez, they are going to have more ammo than our military. I am not an anarchist, but I don't trust our government anymore, be it Democrats or Repulicans.

You sir, are a racist, because, like most of us here, have common sense, and that doesn't 'float' in this country anymore.

I tend to not believe its about arming for marshal law type situation, nor about the government trying to take (more?) control. I think its simply a way the lefties in office can inflict some pain on all the evil law abiding, gun owning racist homophobes by depriving them of their ammo, or at least making it as expensive as possible. The idea that that silly, antique piece of paper will not allow them to take the guns outright has them stomping their feet and saying "Oh yeah, well then good luck getting ammo!".
There is nothing honest about this administration. There is something very dishonest about all administrations IMO, but this one is far and away the shadiest.

Well, those were the predictions. They have attempted hard taxation on ammo in the past and failed, and they were going to attempt it again when all the gun legislation was stopped, so this is actually quite a good guess as to what exactly they are trying to do. Problem is, people still bought, even at $1 per round of .223, by the thousands, mind you.

Could be you're right. My father said the exact same thing 30 years ago. I quote my father on what he said. "They will never take our guns, they will take away our ammo."

LOL This is one old thread. I don't like guns all that much. They honestly make me nervous. But I like thinking and knowing that there are certain folk who have them! Not the criminal element mind you...just decent, hard working, tax paying citizens. It is amazing how certain political entities label you folk as wild-eyed, foaming at the mouth, alarmists!? I know I'd sleep a whole lot better if I were in Chicago! LMFAO That piece of *%&^ mayor is a piece of work, really!

Through out history, we have learned that being prepared is for the best. It's not just about the zombie apocalypse, so to speak, but also, look at how many people were defenseless and without water during Katrina. The government was no where to be found for how many days, and when they did show up, it was to take away the only defense people had...their guns. People were willing to kill to get food, water, and power.
IMO, America, as well as many other countries, have become lazy with the idea that we are protected, even though you can point to many situations in the last 20 years that we were not.

Brother, all I know is that when all hell breaks loose, I'll sit back and wait for FEMA and the Federal Government to come to my rescue! Wait, what? I've not had a firearm since I was a kid...a little 22, probably would be on the 'ban list' today...looked like an M-1. Rabbits were lots faster than I was, but I had fun! I'm seriously thinking about something or another. I've got a baseball bat under the bed. I'd honestly hate to shoot some stupid kid for breaking and entering...but there are others!

Sorry, I had to fix your quote, but you are right. The majority of this country has now decided to sacrifice their freedom for 'so called' security.

You Can come right over to my House Cousin, I have a slight bit more than a baseball Bat, and it is 4hrs away from that Clusterfck that community organizer is from, and if it were as you said that "foaming" at the mouth hardworking taxpaying citizens were "NUTS", then there would be not a problem would there, think of it, if we who own Firearms are nuts, there would not be ANY opposition, NO Crime, None, they, the "FOAMERS" would solve the issue, but alas "WE" are just as you said, hardworking, Taxpaying, Law abiding sane citizens who Love our Nation, BUt A great many of us are getting real pissed off
