Use some cardboard boxes too. I remember I made this intricate fort, which looked like a giant pile of mess from the outside, but inside I had tunnels and everything. The best part was the entrance, which I cut out the bottom of a pizza box, then placed the box on top of the entrance hole, nobody would suspect such an entrance.
