can fish oil slow your gains?

i read that fish oil can slow your gains somewhere. This true? they also said that when recovering from injury it can slow your recovery time. I haven't seen this anywhere else so I'm curious if they know what they are talking about.

When I read the OP I freaked a little. I just broke my leg a couple months ago and started Keto not long after (which included fish il being introduced to my system) and couldn't figure out why my healing slowed so much, but thinking on it I'm fairly certain it was just circumstantial.

Possibly. Omega-3's are ligands for PPARalpha & gamma, which are associated with catabolic cascades, whereas Omega-6's (especially metabolites of arachidonic acid [4-HNE, 4-HDDE]) are ligands for PPARdelta, which is inhibits both PPARalpha & gamma. Activating PPARdelta also changes metabolic preference from glucose to lipids, and so completing the circuit initiated by PPARalpha and PPARgamma.

Theres some theory that anti-inflammatories like fish oil can blunt the body's natural inflammatory response to exercise and possibly reduce gains. I never paid it much heed myself

The tissue in question would be of prime relevance here. Are most n-3s not delivered to adipocytes?

the only ones I know that will effect gains are Flax seed oil. if by chance you read up on omega 6 & 9 you will see they compete for realestate in your system against the omega 3's. the omega 9 in flax seed oil increases estrogen, most folks avoid that.

He didn't say but I will say this. I ran between 10 and 15 grams daily for about 5 weeks. I lost 10lbs of fat, maintained strength while not working out and on week 5 I started gettin bad hives. So I can't imagine 45 lbs. Plus image the cost.

That's probably an unsafe amount. Poliquion is quite the extremist with fish oil. No need for that much.
