SACRAMENTO, California (Reuters) - The University of California's Berkeley campus announced on Tuesday that a private foundation has given $1 million to fund scholarships for illegal immigrants.
The scholarships will go to nearly 200 students who are not eligible for federal grants, government-backed loans or work-study positions, the school said.
The Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, a private family foundation, provided the scholarship grant. It is the largest scholarship for undocumented immigrants ever given to a U.S. university, the foundation said.
"These motivated, hardworking and inspiring students are an asset to our state and our country," the fund's president, Ira Hirschfield, said in a statement. "Now that it's legal to do so in California, we encourage other foundations and private donors to consider providing funding to help undocumented students achieve their potential."

Fuk that. You know how hard I had to work for a scholarship? Now they hand them out like candy to illegals who can read and write and perform well on the SATs? Fuk this gay earth. Raging hard. Oh you are a citizen from a poor family who scored in the top 10% on the SATs? Sorry but we are giving your scholarship to the fence jumper family whose kid scored the same.

Good, better people regardless of what imaginary border they had no choice of being born in. If you have the courage to come here, work hard and earn a scholarship good for them. Maybe the majority of our obese population will work a little harder with the easy hand they were dealt.

WOW! Don't get me started! I hate it when rich people use their own money to set up foundations for those less fortunate! They should be spending that money on sports cars and golfing! Don't get me started on illegal immigrant children! They should have chosen not to be born to their illegal border jumping parents! Once they made that choice they still had the opportunity to report their parents to ICE or self deport! Now they are going to be leeching off of this privately funded scholarship to try to educate themselves and maybe even contribute to society!

Are you not aware of the large amount of scholarships that are available for whites? They're listed by ethnicity, not race. Cry more.

i think the point is to have (illegal) productive members of society
Illegal people that are in college were likely brought to the US at a very young age, to the point where USA is their home. Why not have working, well paid, tax-paying immigrants vs low paid/no tax paying immigrantsSee you, Space Cowboy.........
