Homemade Thumb trainer - what hardware is this guy using? (Meagre Reps)

i found this video of a homemade thumb trainer. its ingenious to be fair to the guy. other than the elastic bands, whats the name of the black frame hes using? id like to rig one of these things up tomorrow if i can.

I honestly thought this was a troll thread! Nice vid and cool idea....the dude in the video is a grip strength fiend....look at all that stuff on his wall!

I'm going to make one myself... but the video does have that "It puts the grip on it's skin" feel due to the wall behind him.

Gotta love how he said hes putting it on vimeo instead of youtube "because when it gets out the copy cats will go crazy" .. if he doesnt want no one else making them then why bother uploading a video of all things. anyway, i also like the fact hes given lots of ways to train the thumb too. you arent likely to plateau or stall soon with all those options and bands for microloading.

so glad i stumbled across that video.


EDIT: Just phoned my local builders supplies and they only stock the smaller ones, if anyone finds a UK seller online please let me know. otherwise ill have to make it out of wood or pvc or something instead.

Another way is to just use a pony clamp, and then add the elastic bands to the jaws for extra resistance. You can then use a few bolts on each side of the jaws to keep the bands on.

David horne sells all sorts of gadgets for the thumbs and one of his more recent are attachments that fit on the end of his vulcan gripper to turn it into a pinch trainer.

I have seen them before, but thanks all the same. what i like about this 'thumb blaster' is that you can work in your natural ROM. i have a homemade Titans Telegraph Key (which im using now), but this thing doesnt put your thumb in a fixed position. seems like more of an economical movement.

Doesn't look like 12" to me...more like 8"-9". Look at the overall length in relation to the width.

Regardless, these square u-bolts are pretty common items in the off-road world, and typically come with block-style lift kits.
