2/5/13....cardio bunny
6 WEEKS OUT
…I AM THE POSTER CHILD OF HEALTH…
…or so I was told by the nutritionist at work. My company has begun a “Healthy Roads” initiative starting a year ago because the realized how much lost productivity resulted from how terrible people’s health has become due to their lifestyle. So now we get incentives for doing various things such as nutrition coaching/counseling, being more active, and learning our “numbers”. So yesterday (as of time of writing this) I got my “numbers” screened with similar results as last years’ (which were excellent, and still some improvements.
BMI = 23 <-- Ha! I always have to laugh at how terrible this number is for folks like us
Blood Pressure = 114/29 <-- Last time it was a bit higher (prehypertensive higher) at 132/83. [Normal = 120/80]
Total Cholesterol = 178 [Desireable <200]
LDL (bad) = 62 <-- The lowest they’ve seen. Diet driven. [Desireable <100]
HDL (good) = 94 <-- The highest they’ve seen The largest contributor to HDL, consistent exercise! [Exceptional >60]
Chol/HDLC Ratio = 1.9 [Exceptional <3.5]
Triglycerides = 109 <-- Up from 81 last time. [Normal <150]
Glucose = 79 [Normal 71-99 (fasted)]

Starting to drop some water from Sunday’s mess of a day.
…CARDIO…
AM Cardio: 30 minutes treadmill, 10% incline
PM Cardio: 4 mile run @ 9:04/mile.
Got a wicked energy kick around 7 PM when I went for my run; even after getting a craptastic Charley Horse in the arch of my right foot, the kind where your toes splay apart and your bones feel like they want to snap. No clue where it came from (residual carbs from Sunday?) but kicking some Slipknot on the iPod sure helped to keep the pace fairly quick.
…NO LIFTING…
Thought about making up Sunday’s missed arms workout but decided I’d rather go for a run than walk a mile on a damn treadmill after working out.

Coach shot a vid of DL tonight. First time attempting this weight....not too shabby. A little bit of cat-backing starting on the 4th rep, knees quivering on the 5th. But fairly solid lifts for mid-workout.
So...automatic DL PR...6 @ 260#
Form critique anyone?

Week 6 Summary
WEEK 6 SUMMARY
…WEIGHT…
Total weekly loss of 0.4# which I could believe…but scale has jumped back up plus some. Per my body media and diet I would’ve expected to lose 1.5# this week. I suppose this is where the accuracy, or lack of, is starting to catch up.
I seem to be the only person second guessing, but I guess that is because my expectations are different than everyone else’s. I want to be almost as lean as last time yet I don’t need to be. Plus the scale is not reflecting the changes that are happening, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
…CARDIO…
Cardio is increasing by 5 minutes a day. Well technically it increased last week… so 30 minutes hard in the AM and 25 minutes moderate in the PM.
…DIET…
For the most part, diet is staying the same as last week except no more rice, all taters. So calories will average about 1600 to 1700. That is really substantial considering I’m only 5 weeks out. Although, I have a feeling we may be trying out keto here in a few weeks. I think he really wants to see what my body is capable of.
M1: 5 egg whites, 1 slice Rudi's gluten free bread (cinnamon & raisin!), 1 tbsp picante
M2: 15 almonds, 5 oz extra lean ground turkey, mustard
M3: 5 oz turkey, 4 oz yams, 2 oz avocado, 1 tbsp ketchup
M4: 5 oz tilapia, 3 oz red potatoes, 3 oz greens, 10 g mustard
M5: 5 oz chicken, 3 oz sweet potato, 3 oz greens, 10 g mustard
M5B: 5 oz sirloin, 3 oz sweet potato, 3 oz greens, ~1 oz Rudy’s BQQ sauce
M5C: 5 oz salmon, 3 oz sweet potato, 3 oz greens
M6: 4 oz tilapia, 3 oz green, 10 g mustard
Weekly Average: 1728 calories 49F / 125C / 185P
…BLADDER BUSTIN’…
Averaged about 137 ounces of water a day. Getting progressively worse about drinking water on the weekends.
…BODY MEDIA DATA…

Thanks. Getting tighter every week. And energy is awesome! I love food! And am glad I am getting way more of it this prep.
We are just playing around. Cannot remember the reasoning from switching from rice to potatoes.
Although, I was told tonight that if I would stop overanalyzing myself and nit-picking that he would like to play around with my diet. The convo was actually quite awkward because I thought he was hinting at something that I was not interested in supplementing with. When someone tells me that they are thinking of 'giving me something that [I] you may not be used to'...I was looking for the *wink*wink*. But what he meant was burgers and cake and the like. We are starting off with a cheat meal this weekend. I am already scoping out the steakhouses that have the best chocolate desserts (#1 priority) and steaks.
ETA.... And I guess I am much harder on myself than I need be. I forget how much that spray tan does for you. I remember checking in at the hotel and scoping out the competition and kept wondering when some of the girls were going to start their diets....Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

Worked out at the “new” gym. This is the gym I train at with my coach…the one with the sucky hours… 5 AM to 10 PM weekdays and 8 AM to 8 PM weekends. I sure am going to miss that 24 hour a day flexibility but at least the people at this gym are less creepy and respectful of personal space. I was/am hesitant to workout here during the week on my own as mentally I think I’ll be “watched” to make sure I’m working my tail off. I know that won’t be the case but the seeds of the thought are there. The gym was quite empty at 8 PM but I'm hoping that that is not solely a function of it being Valentine's Day.

LOVE THE WATCH, I have a thing for watches, and that is a very nice one definitely upgraded in the bf category. I spend V-day at my coaches studio so he was the closest to any kind of valentine this year haha
Second, the back progress is awesome! Its nice that you are able to have someone take pictures, you can really see the development!
So as I read through your posts, there are some food items that I see you eat and I say..."ohhh I want that" (red velvet cupcake!). Does you coach let you have these occasional treats or do you just have them once in a while and say nothing? I have been 100% on my diet, and yesterday was a re-feed. For a re-feed, my coach just has me eat a lot more rice or quinoa. I WISH I could just have one cheat instead....like I have been dying for some fluffy pancakes (gluten free). I tried to negotiate that with my coach and it did not work, at all haha I kinda expected that one, but I didn't even let myself have a SQUARE of chocolate on Vday. I was having that internal argument in my head every time I passed by a store not to rip the wheel to the right and stop and get one! So just curious what you do and if there is a point in prep, say 2-3 weeks out, that you REALLY cut out that stuff.

I think my coach likes taking those pictures as they will look great in his portfolio...walking advertisement.
Well technically that was a cheat, but I couldn't make a special brownie for my BF and not taste it to ensure that it was perfect . And with the prospect of a massive cheat meal tomorrow, I could handle a brownie. I'm totally wanting more tonight, but I can hold out until tomorrow. Staying tough!
So I get a huge cheat meal tomorrow, with no limitations. I was astounded by this especially at 4 weeks out, but talking with my coach's GF during posing practice, it seems I'm getting a cheat because he knows I'm one to jump right back on my diet and kill it...apparently he has other girls that he cannot trust to do just that, so they typically don't get cheats. I feel so special! So I'm having all the appetizers/freebies (fried plantains and polenta, amazing cheesy bread puffs), a few trips to the salad bar (it's a shame it is so neglected as it in itselft is worth the full $50 dining fee), and all the red meat I can shovel down....and of course dessert (to not be shared)...I'm thinking chocolate mousse cake or brownie . I am a fatty at heart! I think he was expecting me to go for a who,e 16" pizza all by myself...I'll save that one for after. It's funny how I'm not really craving carbs, all-you-can eat Brazilian BBQ sounds much more enticing than pizza.
Last prep, I went cold turkey at 6 weeks out. Refeeds were an extra 400 calories on leg day (oats + PB) and dropped to just 200 extra at 4 weeks out. I got an extra 600 cals at 2 weeks out so I had pizza then. And we did a test run at about 3 weeks out for my pre-comp cheeseburger and fries to see how my body would react....but this time I'm with a new coach, not trying to get as lean, soI'ill be getting more freebies since I'm very near my target physique.
And I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I won't be as lean as last time, but despite that, I will look even better than last time since I've put on some good size in the off-season. I'm just hoping that my suit will not be so snug once it is glued...but it is an amazing pro level suit at about half the cost of a pro level suit. I will definite get another one made before USAs and tweak the measurements just a bit.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

I almost put off this workout until today, but resolved to go because I needed to do cardio as I have been missing way too much of it. So get to the gym a little after 10 PM...kill the legs and couldn't really see myself surviving 30+ minutes at a slow incline walk...pathetic.Last edited by megdaig; 02-16-2013 at 08:15 PM.

New suit!!
Suit pics! And I'm not glued in, but I do appear to have leaned out in the bum a bit so it fit much better this morning....

Thanks.
The suit is by Vizion Couture [website here]. It is easily a pro level suit at about half the cost. I will definitely be getting another one made before Nationals.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

I guess i'm just envious that you get to eat yummy things for your re-feeds! I get to eat extra rice...yummm...not! actually since I had such bad heartburn last time I am going to try sweet potato next time... but what I really want are some nice fully pancakes or at least maybe a semi-cheat. But I guess that will make the post-show meal that much more rewarding Good for you for being able to maintain that physique, must be because you are killing it in the gym!

Got a little scare on Sunday. After shooting off my update email and progress pics to coach, I got my response email with diet changes and some “kudos”, “keep it up”, etc. I then check my phone and I have a missed call and a text message saying to call him. I was promptly greeted with a “did you stuff your face?” which had me scared and thinking that he saw something in the pictures that he didn’t like and was going to tell me I couldn’t have my cheat meal. But all was good, he just wanted to make sure I understood how excited/proud about my progress and how I’m looking since the email doesn’t do his excitement justice. Likes my suit choice/color/cut/fit…everything A-OK….and to go stuff my frickin’ face.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!
