There's actually an advert for Personal Training at my gym that specifically states "Target fat in those hard to remove places". I'd put a complaint in but my friends got banned and most of the PT's don't like me anyway.

A lot of the 'broscience' in this thread is actual scientific theory. E'g meal timing is important, there is a tonne of research reinforcing this. The training window does exist (FACT)- if you don't believe me read a bunch of peer reviewed research articles and some good nutrition text books (one by Jie Kang is good). Cycling creatine is not stupid. For a large proportion of individuals a greater effect is seen when creatine is cycled rather than taken consistently- myself included. There are plenty of things out there that sound stupid because the wrong people say them. If you look into it you may find that they are actually true. On the other hand, just because a guy in a white jacket says it, it doesn't mean it is law.

Here's a graphic of part of the AKT->mTOR->p70s6k anabolic protein synthesis pathway
phosphorylated = activated
dephosphorylated = inactivated
RHEB = signals when sufficient amino acids are present in the bloodstream to commence protein synthesis (mainly activated by leucine)
mTOR = convergence complex of many inputs where when all the inputs are activated, protein synthesis occurs (tumor suppression must be overridden, insulin or IGF-1 must bind to the cells receptor...)
AKT = cell survival. Tells the cell to stay alive and not apoptosis. Testosterone helps keep this phosphorylated (in myonuclei and satellite cells).
Cliffs- meal timing is important.- root console
