Iv completed my first year in my transformation. I lost 60 lbs. I'm down to 15% body fat at 184 lbs.. The first 3 months i started my diet i was very strict with everything; i used a calorie counter, weight out my food, ate 6 times a day. I had a personal trainer for the first 3 month to get me started. Dude is a freak and not human. 170 lbs and can bench 405 lbs. He keeps himself around 8-9% body fat. He told me i need to have wheat bread in my diet. At the time i was eating lot of wheat bread, and losing 4 lbs a week for about 2 months; then i started to plateau. I also have a friend who owns a gym that is strictly for personal training. He has a degree from University of Wisconsin–La Crosse Class of 2009 · Exercise and Sports Science w/ emphasis in Fitness · Strength and Conditioning. He keeps himself around 10% body fat, and tells me i need to quit eating bread, pasta, and cheese if i ever want to see abs. Well i listened to him and i lost another 10 lbs from not eating bread, pasta, and cheese. I'v been eating bread again and cheese. Not a lot tho, maybe a few times a week if that.
So is my friend who has the degree right about not eating bread, pasta, and cheese if i want to see abs? Or does it not really matter as long as you have a decent diet and good exercise program? How many of you guy's have a 6 pack and eat bread and what not? Here's a before and after picture of my transformation.

You didn't lose weight based on the name of a food you quit eating. You lost weight and will continue to because of a calorie deficit.
You ought to read the stickies here to learn the basics of nutrition...and then quit listening to the bro running the gym. Good luck!*Unaesthetic Crew* Disregard V-Taper, Acquire PRs Thread

If you want to see your abs, you simply reduce your overall calorie intake to create a calorie deficit. It doesn't matter which foods you reduce; as long as you eat less calories than you burn, your body fat % will decrease, and you will gain definition.
There are plenty of guys posting on this site with abs who regularly eat bread, pasta, and cheese (and lots of other different foods as well). No brain, no gain.
"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon
