OP is right, but this is nothing new. I estimate that 70% of people who currently go college arent really getting anything from it. Medicine, Law, sciences, math ,education any other profession can be had without college imo

College can have its positives, but it does seem all to often these days a degree places one deep in debt, with fewer job prospects compared to the past. College isn't for everyone. Saw the NYT's had an article the other day on this - concerning college degrees, and our changing economy. Young people need to become more entrepreneurial.

Yes, while it it true you can teach yourself from the massive amount of resources ( internet lecture vidoes, textbooks), you won't have the piece of paper that employers require you to have. That's the main reason for college....to get a degree.

You dont need a professor to learn anything, you need one to evaluate your learning ability, and the structure of a university to provide your accreditation.

I am not convinced everyone needs to go to college, and 90% of every field is learned on the job, but without this nobody is going to take your self teaching seriously.

I am a sheep and let me tell you, we cannot eat pork (pig) or any animal that consumes meat or is beneficial to mankind, like a horse for example. The number one reason for sheep not eating pork is because it is an order from Allah and we must obey his command. Of course people will question so their is a number of logical reasons we cannot. One being that the pig is unclean, sometimes eating its own feces, also pork, bacon, etc. has no nutrients beneficial to the human body. Protein from bacon cannot be digested by the human body, so all your really getting is fat. Also the pig only digests in 8-9 hours and that is bad it is not long enough to take out all the nutrients to benefit and filter the bad stuff. But cows lamb etc take 24-72 hours which means more cleaning. Which would you rather put in your body?
