The very first UFC event. Bare knuckle. Low blows and hair pulling allowed. No weight categories. This is just one of the fights. For anyone who doesn't know, look up who won the tournament. Hint: He was smaller and lighter than both of the guys in the video below.

Moral of the story.. Yeah size and weight are an advantage. Mass x speed = power/force. Nobody can deny physics. But if you don't know how to fight and someone else who does decides he wants to kick the **** out of you. Chances are you aren't going to have a fun night. In all honesty being strong can pretty much only be an advantage but if you don't know how to fight the advantage is highly irrelevant. You also have to think about what you mean by "average". The average guy probably doesn't fight a whole lot so you probably wouldn't ever fight them anyway but a person that proceeds to fight has probably fought before and so knows more of what to do.
Also size and strength does matter but knowing how to fight is more important. I have trained and competed in mma and bjj and have beaten people well over 230 lbs when I was a 155er because I was a lot more technical and knew what to do. With that said you also have to stick to your strengths. For instance if they are smaller than you play the big guy role and bully him. If you are smaller play the small guy role and stick and move, don't stand in front of them when they are probably stronger.

False, someone with basic ability (punches/knees etc) and a lot of mass over the other will win unless the other has many many years of experience...

As I said above, unless this 120lbs fighter has 20 Years experience...they'd lose.

Stregth is always a good advantage in a fight, especially on the ground. But if you're fighting somone skilled and conditioned you better go for the knockout because you will get out fought and winded before the fights even over. A lot of times just having the wind over an opponent helps you win, not necessesarily more skill.

Look at the Worlds Strongest Man who is in MMA now. Sure he lost to a washed up Tim Sylvia however even though he is SO sloppy and has no technique he has been beating people with ground and pound cuz he's just too damn big.
So if you fought the average guy you'd have a slight advantage bt if the dude has just a little skill he'd most likely winLifetime PR's

having the strength does help
but so does speed...
If your just gonna be strong as fuark but slow as hell, there is a great chance you can get KO'd
also technique is the most important part
good to have all in balance eh :P
1.) Speed - To get shots fast or to avoid hits faster
2.) Power - To get the guy ko'd easier
3.) Technique - To avoid missing shots when hitting your opponent
4.) Muscles - Having a low body fat and some muscle mass, can help you take in hits without much pain compare to high bf% with lack of muscles
