What do you guys think about the 21( now it's apparently at THIRTY-ONE (31) States ) states starting petitions for secession from the United States of America? Each states needs 25,000 signatures within the first 30 days of it for the Obama Administration to respond to it. Thoughts on how this will all play out?
Top 10 this morning apparently :
Texas: 62,630
Louisiana : 27,028
South Carolina, 13,888
Arkansas, 13,207
Georgia, 17,807
Tennessee, 17, 356
Colorado, 13,171
Alabama, 17,897
Florida, 19,135
North Carolina, 16,794
*Numbers as of 24 + hours ago. Apparently a few other states have broke the 25K mark as well

Suck it up folks, Obumbles won so we have a mere 4 yrs left. The House is going to be massive gridlock during that time span in an effort to see that he isn't allowed to mess things up worse than they already are..at least that's my hope.
Trying to secede from the Union wouldn't solve a damn thing and is downright fukkin stupid.

It would turn out like the breakup of the USSR. Lots of rogue states with nuclear arsenals and no procedures for dealing with them. And you can bet the USA will not let it's land and resources just up and walk away. Remember what happened the last time some states tried to break away. Lots of people died.

The only reason are falling for it is that it's convenient to do on the internets. If they had to go door-to-door getting physical signatures... they may have 10 or 12 signed up. People are paper (or paperLESS) tigers, period.
One step below..."forward this to 12 people and something fanfukkingtastic will happen to you tomorrow"...

The media hails obama as the smartest person to ever be President. (Amazing how little he supposedly knows about Fast and Furious and Benghazi.) The media even labelled him as "the great uniter."
I have never seen our Country more divided and hateful towards each other. He has divided us along religious lines. He has divided us along racial lines. He has divided us along economic lines. He has divided us along gender lines. This is our own President raising these issues and dividing us!
I have never seen anything so destructive; so divisive. It's not a good thing.Envy is ignorance. Imitation is suicide.

I agree with these ^ sentiments, wholeheartedly, and am as disgusted by it as you are.
I have. It's was called.......
the Bush Presidency .
But yes, I agree with the difference being a very transparent divider, as opposed to just an ideologue division. He's led his entire campaign(s) by pitting us against ourselves (rich vs poor, corporations being evil, etc..) and he's been successful with it. I don't blame him (because he's just a puppet that was well handled). I only blame my fellow Americans for consuming his bull$hit (srs).
And before liberals start crying about "puppet" comments...I'll first say, every candidate is heavily handled in politics. But in this case, it's a guy with zero background and experience who got packaged perfectly. Historians will truly wonder and study how this phenomena ever happened.

Short and selective memory, my friend. I voted for GW both times. I was very disappointed inot the 2nd yr of his 2nd term. And as for being divided....did you really forget how divided we were (still are)????
EDIT: btw, we're from the same state, but you need to get a wider view on politics (respectfully).

I lived in VA in Bush' first term. I sold to the VA, DoD - Army, DARPA, DISA, DFAS, many more. My mix of friends is indeed a mix, libertarian, dem, rep alike. I certainly don't know everything about politics, but definitely more than most. Related to our Federal Gov't, I certainly know a lot more than most. Uncommon to most Georgians, I do vote split ticket. Depends on the issues and the folks running.
I also grew up in West Philly, so I grew up with the "other side" of politicsB: 285

Understood, but it doesn't address the fact and well known divide that deepened during Bush's Presidency. We're on the same "side", so to speak, but I suspect your age doesn't privy you to "public thinking" 12 yrs ago, when you were 24, and likely not as involved in politics as you are now. Am I wrong?

This. I live in TN, and I've seen a good sample group of those who are signing. A majority are eighth grade educated, missing several front teeth, and most are die hard Nascar fans (No offense to you intelligent Nascar fans out there). Demographics tell you a lot.
A funny observation. Whenever I see a post slamming Obama, pointing out that he is actually causing "division and hate", I often have the impression that the poster hated the concept of a liberal, black president in the first place. Don't get me wrong. I'm not happy with Obama, but damn, everyone who is angry right now needs to look directly at the GOP and ask "Was a born wealthy, transparent, used car sales like cartoon character the best that you could offer to challenge Obama?"Last edited by Paulie_G; 11-14-2012 at 11:43 AM.

We, like other countries I suppose, are like an organism with an overactive immune system. When we have an enemy to fight we thrive. When we don't, we attack ourselves. We did some really cool (and really bad) sh*t during the cold war but aside from bouts of social turmoil, we progressed in an amazing way. Now we sort of seem to be dissolving from the inside.
It's hard to look at all of this objectively. I've only been political aware for a few cycles in the grand scheme of things. It's sometimes hard to tell if I'm changing or if society is changing and to put that in proper context with history.2 + 2 = 5 (for extremely large values of 2)
