Hi. This is my first post (although I am a frequent forum watch/reader). Anyway, I am posting here because I have question regarding frying in olive oil. I have read olive oil is very good for you but I am still wary of frying my food in it. I would primarily be frying chicken breast and Tilapia fish. I have noticed frying the meats always results in a better tasting meal. I have tried to lose weight and would appreciate any and all advice/constructive criticism. The rest of my Diet looks like this:
Breakfast: Quinoa/Oatmeal
Lunch: Salad( Spinach/Green Beans/Cucumber/Lettuce)
Dinner: More Veggies (Primarily Spinach/Meat (Chicken Breast/Tilapia Fish)
Snacks: Almonds & Some Fruits
Protein Shake on lifting Days: Whey& Creatine

I do chicken in coconut oil. Just measure how much you put in and divide it by the pieces of chicken you have and you get a rough estimate, there's still oil in the pan after anyway. If you can make it fit your macros why not?
BTW, don't fry in olive oil, it doesn't do well at high heats, try coconut oil out.It is not so much the major events as the small day-to-day decisions that map the course of our living. . . Our lives are, in reality, the sum total of our seemingly unimportant decisions and of our capacity to live by those decisions. ― Gordon B. Hinckley

I use extra light olive oil which has the highest smoking point among olive oils. On weekends, I use bacon fat to fry my eggs after my cook bacon. Yes..i'm cutting.

Olive oil is awesome. I cook EVERYTHING in extra virgin olive oil. It adds tons of flavor. I use it from cooking eggs, steaks, chicken to making salad dressings. There's nothing wrong with cooking in olive oil. Don't let the fat-police tell you otherwise. Fat does not cause fat...it's been well documented.

Frying in olive oil is not a terrible idea. What you must realise is that as long as your macros are sorted, and you are eating under maintenance then frying your foods in olive oil for a bit of extra taste should not deter your weight loss.
Count your calories, eat under maintenance and fry your food in whatever oil you wish and I'm sure that you will still lose weight.former morbidly obese. cutting till death (hopefullynotsrs)

Yeah solid advice above. I wouldn't smoke it (it's not like lard or butter) but I still sear and occasionally fry eggs etc in olive oil. Just heat the oil up gradually but don't let it get way too hot.
Olive oil is good for you, in terms of cutting it's a matter of how much you're consuming. If you're frying schnitzels you're adding a considerable amount of calories. If it fits into your daily allocation though go for it. For myself, I still cut up fine light frying foods. It's the sugars and refined carbs which hurt my progress most.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Coconut oil is one of the best oils to use.
