Weight Gainer or Stick With Whey?

So I currently weigh 183, and am 6'2". I play highschool football- linebacker. I'll going into my final year, and will most likeley be the best backer of the group. I'm quite skilled, I just don't exactly have the weight. My coach said he will fight me if I don't get to at least 200 by next season (august). Now he's obviously joking but he does want to see me at 200. So do I. I lift regularly, and made pretty solid gains last year, and I was on a whey protein. My question is should I try a weight gainer for a bit to help me get up there? I have a crazy fast metabolism and it's hard to get all the calories I need, especially with school. Also whats the difference of getting my calories from a weight gainer as compared to just the whey? The WG's seem to take like 5 scoops per serving, and compared the calories are really not too different. Is the difference the carbs in the WG? Any help would be beneficial. BTW, i lift 4-5 times a week. Thanks, you beautiful soul

Mass gainers usually use calories coming from dextrose or sugars (carbs). Whey is usually all protein. But overall calorie surplus is what makes you gain weight.

    You're on whey? :O

Kidding, but coolcicada said it best- You'll gain weight if you have a caloric surplus in your diet, so theres really no need for a weight gainer, just start eating more (and stick to protein and complex carbs unless you want dat fat)

Stick with weigh but add in "weight gainers". ie: milk, peanut butter and other calorie dense foods

-You most likely don't have that "crazy fast metabolism", you simply don't eat enough or as much as you think you do.
    - Stop wasting money on gainers and invest in whole food
    - Enjoy the gains

Eat more. Lift heavier. And, IMO, ya should stick with gainers.
    Peace, Fredo.
