"28.2 Assessing the Male Physique:
In assessing prejudging, overall shape and that of the various muscle groups is
important. The judge should favour competitors with a harmonious, classical
physique. The judge should look for good posture and athletic bearing, correct
anatomical structure (including body framework, broad shoulders, high chest, correct
spinal curves, limbs and trunk in good proportion, straight legs, not bandy or knockkneed).
The judge should also look for good skin tone with an absence of surgical or
other scars, spots, acne or tattoos, which the IFBB considers as a skin blemish, tidily
dressed hair, well-shaped feet, and toes. When having difficulty in placing two or
more competitors who seem to be on the same level, the judge should look for faults
in those aspects listed above which will help to differentiate among the competitors.
Detail description of the men’s compulsory poses may be found in Appendix 2, Point
1.1"

Kind of interesting. I wonder if they really dock points from Roelly and others with tattoos.
Personally, I don't like them. A coworker got the Subaru logo tattooed on his delt a few months ago. *facepalm

I can appreciate it as an art form in itself and I can also appreciate original or cool looking tat's. On some people, in some industries, it works and enhances their character well, ie. Tyson or Lil' Wayne but when it comes to bodybuilding, I am not a fan at all. It takes away from the clean lines, flow, definition and is a visual distraction that also becomes somewhat of a hindrance in the beauty of the physique. Just my personal opinion.

Hmmm...I wonder if Kai lost any points for his "Tong Po" look against Phil's "tidily", cleanly, shaven head? kinda srs... =/

Tattoo's ruin a physique imo. Get one if you're never going to compete but at pro level the less tatts you have the better.
'Discreet' ones on the forearms and maybe on the delt are ok, but a full arm sleeve etc etc really does take away a lot from a great physique.
Just my two cents mind.''There’s this battle over waterboarding at places like Guantanamo Bay. I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''
