I've been using my normal tennis shoes for a while, but they're getting a little ragged. I'm curious what kind of shoes I should get next. What do most of you guys and gals use?
I was looking through Google and came across these:

They seem a little overzealous for me though...and at $200 I think they're a little unnecessary...

Might want to tell us what kind of lifting your into.
Powerlifting, crossfit, olympic, or just general lifting.
I personally wear chuck taylor converse hight tops when squating or DLing. Normal running shoes when pressing. It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website to educate themselves for FREE

i have olympic shoes (risto..) but i wear vibram sprint only for my garage.. The weightlifting shoe adds a lot of stability but the heel is kinda too high. The floor is kinda slanted tho so that kinda already gives me a heel lift. Lifting shoes definitely add a lot of stability but I think barefoot is fine.. Tennis shoes are HORRIBLE. whenever I am training someone, I immediately see ankle instability due to crappy footwear and that will definitely affect your lifts
I'd love to have a lower heeled lifting shoe though but those adidas/nike romaleos look sweet

I've been wearing these $20 minimalist shoes some days.
http://www.amazon.com/Tiger-Claw-Wus.../dp/B0000CDBSD
The tread is a soft rubber that will wear down quick, but it has a light and flexible canvas and rubber construction that I like. Probably similar to Chucks, but Chucks are made for people with narrow feet.www.tworepcave.com

Unfortunately, I somehow managed to injure my leg between ordering these and actually lifting in them, but the cheapest minimalist shoe that I ran across was the New Balance Men's MT20v2 Minimus Running Shoe -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o03_s01_i00
I read a lot of people say minimalist shoes were good for weight lifting, and they seemed good in the store when I tried them on and did the squat motion.
Other other people have mentioned, it seemed like if one bought specific weightlifting shoes, they were good for some weightlifting exercises, but you would need to wear different shoes for others, and I'm not interested in changing shoes during the course of my workout.

I have those, watch est bay sales they pop up from time to time. The best shoe I've ever tried/seen, incredibly comfortable, feather light (for weightlifting shoe), workmanship and material is top notch. I also have Adidas Power Lift Trainer, they are half price of these but don't come even close in quality and comfort.

Here's the link to these shoes on Eastbay:
http://www.eastbay.com/product/model...ing.com-_-null
20% discount code for order over $99: IPEB2B39 (expired 12/04/12 at 11:59p.m. CT). The 20% discount shows up about once a week, so if you miss it, just check back.
There's another site that has those Adipower shoes for a bit less than $199, although they don't have a lot of sizes at the moment: http://www.werksanusa.com/AdiPowerSh...info/AD-POWER/ (shipping makes them a bit more expensive than Eastbay with 20% discount).
I haven't tried these shoes. I have the older Adistars (the white/black shoes in Bingpwr's post) for over a year now. They're great for high bar back squats, front squats and Olympic lifts. I do other lifts without shoes (best part of having a home gym). I also got a pair of Pendlay 2013 shoes for $65. The heels look identical to those on the Nike Romaleos. I've only worn them a few times, but they're extremely stable (may be even more stable than my old Adistars).Last edited by trnk1001; 12-03-2012 at 11:15 AM.

Why are running shoes the worst for squatting? (Note: I couldn't see any rules stating that you're not allowed to ask any kind of unrelated question on a topic, sorry if it's not allowed )
I wear Asics Kayano 18's for virtually all weightlifting and exercise. I chose them because they were recommended by a podiatrist for my over-pronated foot and I needed more support after injuring my legs/feet running with Nike Freerun's. I've never had any issues with them even when I have done my heaviest squats. They are very comfortable and offer a lot of support.
