I figured I would start a thread so we didn't have to keep talking about the game in the SEC thread. I realize there is a lot of hate out there for the Irish and always will be. I also understand that the skeptics don't want to believe that they are back, that their season was somehow a fluke. There are also people who act like the SEC is better than the NFL. Blah, blah, blah

I'm glad there are no BCS arguments this year over the title game. The most deserving 2 are there. No doubt that Notre Dame is good and they have had a great season. I'm just not impressed with a few of their close wins. They are gonna have to bring it to have a chance late in the game. It is what it is. I'm really curious to see how their front 7 stacks up against Bama's running game.

Bama has had a lot of close wins this year. Games they really should have lost, and one that they did lose. I think close wins are a sign of a good team... especially when the pressure is on at the end of the game. I mean look at Oregon, they blow everyone out and then when they have a chance to play for all the marbles, they choke.
This game is going to be very close, either way.David

No...Alabama didn't have a lot of close wins...lol. Did you see their schedule? There two close games in which they won happen to be against the number 3 and 5 ranked teams. Their other close game they lost, which not for nothing was the next game AFTER the LSU game. Most all their other games they were putting up close to 40 points while shutting out 4 teams.
ND is a good team but they benifit from a few things including a soft schedule and no conference championship.
Also, as for close wins I would agree but I think the competion makes a difference. Close games against very good teams is one thing, close games against bad teams is very telling IMO. (OT against Pitt)
I do hope ND wins as I can't stand Bama (gator fan) but I just can't imagine it. Waiting to see what Vegas has the line at. I'll be shocked if Bama isn't a double digit favorite.Last edited by Jtbny; 12-02-2012 at 08:43 AM.

I think ND's defense is good enough to keep the game close but the obvious wildcard is ND's offense and I'm just not sure how effective they'll be against Bama. I'm picturing a very close first half with Bama pulling away from ND and winning it in the 4th quarter. Bama will most likely be favored by at least a touchdown and I figure they'll cover the spread provided they're not giving more than 10. I just don't see a big blowout.

When the Vegas books open the line. Norte Dame will be underdogs.
I personally could care less either way who wins, but as a betting man I would probably go with Alabama.
Notre Dame's win of Stanford was very controversial.
Nothing that really should be bragged about, and a call that the refs IMO got wrong.-----------------
