Should I not deadlift twice a week?

I've been lifting for 3 months and I've finally got my routine sorted but I wanted to know if I should deadlift twice a week (every other week) or not? is it damaging/not recommended or will it make me look out of proportion or anything?

Here's my routine if you want to give any feedback:

    A:

    3x5 squat
    3x5 bench
    3x5 barbell rows
    3x8 chinups
    2x8 calf raises
    2x12 hanging leg raises

    B:

    3x5 squat
    3x5 overhead press
    1x5 deadlift
    3x8 pullups
    2x8 bench dips
    2x12 decline crunches

    Thank you

Layne Norton squats and or deads 5x's a week. lol

Twice a week isn't that bad. Just listen to your body and be smart about it.

I do Jason DB's Novice 5x5 and I deadlift twice a week on every other week, whenever it's BAB. It's just like your program that you mentioned. Classic SS is the same. Since it's only 1x5 I think it's very doable.

I deadlift every week and every 2nd week I deadlift twice that week. If your body can handle it I don't see any reason not to.

If you're going to DL twice a week, one day should definately be light, I'd recommend speed DL's for the second day.

I think it's important to ask why you think DLs are damaging or will make you disproportionate...? And where you heard this...?

You're only doing 1 set of 5 deadlifts every second workout. I'm baffled as to why you think this is too much volume.

When I dead lift, I leave my guts on the floor. It's my hardest exercise of the week. I, personally, try and give as much rest to my body as I can, and will dead only once every 6 days. I feel, for me, the only way I could dead lift twice a week is if I am doing weight that's not heavy enough.

That setup is on most beginner LPs. Once it becomes too much, reduce to once a week.

The lower back is generally the slowest-recovering part of the human body, and as such, will require the most time to repair itself. Considering that Deadlifts allow a great deal of weight to be brought to bear on the lower back, and that it also gets worked at least to some extent during most other exercises, it's probably best to limit Deads to once per week.

As with all other factors affecting training, YMMV.

Try it out for a while and see what hapepns. No one can really answer this for you. There are people whose levels of experience allow them to deadlift 3x a week. There are some who can only deadlift once every other week.
