we are all different indeed. strangely, i can do legs in the morning ( do not do them real heavy) but tried to do back and tris the other day and it DID NOT happen. my pullups stink, stank stunk and one arm rows w- 30 lb dumbells were not much better. i chose to stop the workout, do cardio and finish my lifting later in the afternoon; which went very well.

I think your body will use what it has for fuel. Hopefully, fat first, in the AM after a fast As long as you are lifting heavy to build muscle, and the recovery includes sound nutrition, the end result should be the same. what do you think? make sense?
I have been doing Intermittent Fasting for a year and did it while bulking (gained 20 lbs in 6 months ). I work out early in the am (most days) and have my first meal around 12 pm. I proved it to myself that meal timing and frequency is irrelevant. If you are trying to gain muscle, you got to eat at the surplus, to lose fat, got to eat at a deficit. That’s it

^ whatever works for you, of course, but isn't there more positive research on the benefit of post-workout meals than intermittent fasting? how do you usually feel when it comes to 12pm? I do intermittent fasting most days but couldn't imagine doing it on top of an early workout.
So, for the first time, today I went to the gym within an hour of waking up and in a fasted state. I usually go in the evening after my last meal of the day (excl. post-workout protein shake) so this was different for me. Except, it was pretty much the same! If not, better! Only downside was my 10 minutes on the stairmaster at the end of my workout was a lot more taxing than usual. I can see why some people lift in the morning and go back for cardio in the afternoon. As far as my lifting went I had no shakes and even managed 10kg tricep pulldowns without failing by 8th rep. On top of that 0% bloat so I didn't feel the need to thrown on a tshirt and enjoyed showing off my progress in my training top. I felt hugely more focused than usual and confident going about my business.
Wish I could do this most days but not possible with my current lifestyle

in that resistance training stimulates both muscle protein synthesis and muscle protein breakdown, yes. from that point of view, training fasted and not eating for 4-5 hours after training might not be the bestest of ideas.
'sufficient' is not 'optimal'.

It took a week or so to get used to it. Some days I am not even hungry at 12, some I can't wait to eat. I take BCAAs per www.leangains.com guide, so I def don't feel tired. I started IF because I hate eating in the morning. Before workout is too early and after workout I got to get kids ready for school and just don't feel like eating right away. More then anything IF is so convinient! One thing - I used to have adrenal fatique issues, so if I have more then one cup of coffee and fast for more then ~20 hrs, I get anxious as h*ll Other then that can't imagine working out any other way
