recently got past it, but it was 6-7 months of severe depression, social anxiety, cutting contact with friends/family, drugs, etc. etc.

lifting was the only thing that got me through it. i'm back to boss-status now, finally worked my **** out.

Couldn't finish university in my country, moved to Usa, after two years started experimenting with drugs, painkillers first, eventually switched to heroin(10 bags a day habit), gained about 70 lbs of fat since coming to Usa, lost job, car everything pretty much, became suicidal, tried killing myself couple times, ended in ER couple times(still paying bills for it). That's pretty much it, got out of it with little help from family and by realizing I need to change myself...

Mother becomes addicted to prescription pain medication, kicks out my father and I go with him because he becomes a liability to himself. Cries a lot, depressed, is broke, etc... so we slum it in a bunch of shiitty apartments for a few years. I eat myself up to 240 pounds and almost 35% body fat. No girls, little friends, terrible grades, no ambition and nervous breakdowns every single day. Then one day a gym opened up around the corner and they gave me a cheap membership. I lost 80 pounds in about 6-7 months, and about two years after that, my dad and I had raised enough money to buy our house back from my mom. I am now proud to say that the house I grew up in is under my name, and I will never leave, despite all of the bittersweet memories that reside within these four walls.

about 4-5 months back in highschool when I was severely depressed and getting sht faced drunk by myself in the afternoon, thinking of how to off myself..I actually googled "easiest ways to kill yourself" on our school computers and they called me up to the counselors office and he told me they saw where I searched that and if I was alright. they called my parents too feltbadman when my mom was talking to me about it...

eventually got therapy for a month or 2 which led to being on meds and things got better

Wow I wish I had as little to be depressed about as some of you. On December 21st I am going to find out whether or not I have celiac disease, a disease that will forever change the way I eat, drink and socialize, I had salmonella typhoid this summer that messed my stomach up big time and I still get pains even though I am two months free of the bacteria.

If I don't have it I am never going to be depressed about external factors EVER AGAIN, if you have your health you can do anything, your health is so important and I took it for granted before.

-Working out daily / every other day
-Working hard in college. I just applied for a college in Oregon in the mechanical engineering program.
-Reading frequently

F*ck what other people think. Life gives you highs/lows. Enjoy the highs and when you're in a low part of your life, use the skills you have to bring yourself back up.

Probably right now...I somehow developed social anxiety within the past year or two (no idea how I used to be social/funny as hell), I have 4 good friends but thats it and we never really chill out that much, parents divorced and blew the entire college fund in court so I may have to do ROTC or go to lower quality college, and am having an extremely hard time making new friends I'm always nervous around people fuk me

-Got Felony last year and broke it off with her when I got bailed out the next day.
-No expungement law here, so it's on the record forever.
-Graduated HVAC trade school, got a contract job over the summer.
-Work ended in October for that job, and haven't been able to find even a minimum wage job since.
-Clean and sober for over a year now, still on probation for another 2 years.
-No friends in this state, so no easy to get jobs for someone like me with a record.
-Thought I had landed a job last week, called on the day before I started that they ran a background check.
-Still looking...

i'm on the verge of breaking down into tears everyday, just from thoughts. i even choose not to help myself

Then got readmitted and my parents were so proud, so i went back and failed that semester and since I didn't really have any friends on campus I stayed by myself and I was smoking way too much weed and didn't go to classes. So when me and my fam were on vacation right after school finished and they asked how i did. I told them i pretty much failed every class and they were devastated. So i had to work all year again and give every one of my paychecks to them until once again i paid off the 12,000 for the semester. Meanwhile throughout all this I remianed pretty much friendless and at times never left my house for days just smoking weed by my shed when i was collecting unemployment. So finally a year passes since i failed out and my parents were pushing me to start taking classes again. I signed at for some at a community college and within 3 weeks stopped going to all my classes and was just pretending to go to class but instead i would just somke weed in my car by myself. About halfway through the semester my mom saw an e-mail i left open on my comp, it was from massasoit saying i missed to many classes and would fail. At the time when she read this i was smoking weed outside was high as **** and when i came in my parents told me they knew what happened and needless to say i broke their hearts again. Since it was too late to withdraw and get any money back I had to pay back my parents all the money for that semester which was about 4,000 dollars. To this day I'm still paying off the debt i've amounted, i ride around in a piece of shirt car, haven't bought new clothes for years, and still remain girlfriendless.

Looking back i gotta say goddamn i'm a dumb mutha****-a and f-cked over my parents way too many times. I'm just glad I'm alive and able to redeem myself to myself and family. Thank god for bodybuilding cause its given me something that I can strive to acheive sucess in everyday.

Now when you do the lifting/exercise do you do it consistently or go once in awhile? I'm only thinking the depression makes you not want to go. And if you go sporatically you are shocking your system you will of course feel tired/sore from not being used to it then don't want to go. if this is the case, I know this feel. And if your levels are fine, I'd say consistency is the answer to that. It will soon be "This is what I do" with lifting, and when you see the way broadly, you will see it in all things.

this is ironically one of the most uplifting threads ive ever read on here for the most part. tons of good posts for motivation and glad to see the misc drop the e-net alpha attitude for a bit. just goes to show how far a little perseverance can take you with a slight attitude adjustment. currently getting over some legal/job/school/girl issues myself, spare you the story but i can really relate to some of you guys, whether i know you or not, still makes me a little proud of my misc bros to get through some tough times and come out smelling like roses. def more motivated after reading this. op deserves mad reps for creating this.

Fell on my teeth at a party. Lost my entire front tooth (rooth and everything) and broke 2 side teeth. Front tooth couldn't be put in again so I had to go a phew operations (drilling a hole in my gums and putting a metal bolt in it).

Whole procedure took about 6-8 months before my teeth were completely fixed. Had to go to the dentist for over 30 times and had a total cost of about €6000,00.
