Cambridge studying robots taking over the planet

Did you guys know that Cambridge University is opening a department dedicated to studying the chances of robots wiping out mankind? I found this out when Joe Rogan retweeted a link he was sent by one of his followers. The department will open up next year and choose to study this as they find that it is very plausible that robots will take over the planet, want to find out what the chances are of that happening and what they should do to resolve this problem. As a prospective robotic engineer, this really fascinates me but as a fan of science fiction it scares the **** out of me... I don't want this real world to be the center piece of Terminator 5. But then again, even if we do die it will be better than seeing a sequel to McG's Terminator film. Opinions, thoughts?

wow i just thought of this the other day. How evolution has favored intelligence which would introduce the next step of evolution advantage of computers.
And i also read a long time ago that they predict computers to be 1000X more intelligent than the human brain in just 100 years.
Very interesting to think about and defintiely something that seems crazy to us now, but just 100 yrs ago the internet and wireless technology probably seemed just as crazy.

The integration of computers into our bodies will, from an outside perspective, make us have the power of gods.

Moving and doing things with nothing but thought.
Grant us the ability to live VERY much longer.
End diseases and current body frailties.
etc.
