Burger-flippers are demanding $15/hour minimum pay... more than double the current minimum wage of $7.25/hour. Why? As one 21-year-old employee states, "Everything we do needs to be fast, needs to be perfect... when you’re actually there for eight hours smiling like you’re on the Miss Universe contest, it’s not easy... there is a lot of verbal abuse."
1) I've never had a perfect fast food meal in my life. Fast? Sure, but is that really an unreasonable request of fast food establishments?
2) Doubling pay for eight hours of smiling? Fast food employees don't smile. They're all miserable.
3) The employees are more verbally abusive than anyone.

In no way is there a difference in purchasing power between Philippines and NYC.
Also, I've been to the Philippines, is Banue pretty? Yes. Is most of the country a backwards **** hole? Yes. Basically if the Philippines is doing something you want to be doing the opposite of that. Take your poverty country mentality and gtfo.

I think one of the first rules of negotiating is having something to bargain with. Thinking you're an irreplaceable fast food employee is ridiculous.

Its hard TO agree with them. They are unskilled, yet demand higher pay just because they don't like their job, and because NYC is expensive to live in?! This is why the majority of smart people get some sort of skill training or a college degree. If they can't afford to live in NYC on minimum wage, move somewhere else. Many people learn that early on in their working life.
