So I always dread my offseason workouts at school. It isn't run some And lift, it's intense. I always lack motivation.. Ill cheat reps or won't run hard. How can I build up my motivation? Whenever I'm racing someone and they are constantly at my speed or a little faster, ill slow down because I think I'm beat. And bonus question- how to stop your rib area from hurting when running

In your offseason, do you set small goals for yourself? In the past I found that when I didn't have a goal, I trained haphazardly. I'd rest more between sets; skip a few sets, etc. Perhaps you can start by setting small goals. For example, today I’m going to run a mile under 6 minutes. Each week or day, you can continue to cut seconds or minutes off. It’s almost like you’re competing with yourself. Also, log your progress. It’s always nice to see how much you’ve improved… Do you have someone in your sport you admire? Perhaps posting a picture of that person will help motivate you.

how bout getting a motivated training partner who will push you through the workouts? im a lonewolf in the gym, but every few months i do a few sessions with a trainer who pushes my lifts way beyond failure... feels epic to have someone there for that style of motivation every now and then...

.... How about this!
Bring a camera with you to the gym. This forces you to STEP UP and perform! Its also a great way to evaluate your form so that you can make continuous improvements!
