    Repetitions for abdominals

    Hi guys,

I've been doing cable crunches and russian twists at 20-25 reps per set (3 sets), twice a week.

I read somehwere on T-Nation I believe that reps should be in the 8-12 rep range with higher weight.

I did cable crunches today at 200lbs instead of 150lbs at 12 reps each set, and I feel the burn better at 150lbs at 20-25 reps

What is more beneficial to grow my abs?

    Thanks!

I prefer to do a mix of heavy weighted ab work (10-15 reps) and high rep bodyweight movements. Best of both worlds.

I'm guilty of that sh*t too, waiting for somebody to powder my nuts cuz I did 20 reps of whatever the **** on the bench. Big f*king deal. It is all relative." G Diesel

There's not a magic number for your question. Figure out yourself.

But remember this: Just because you feel the burn better on higher reps, it doesn't mean that it's more effective. I could do 200 45-lb bodyweight squats and my legs and glutes would burn like hell, whereas doing 6 200-lb squats would burn less, although be more effective for muscle growth.
