If I spent $1 of my waiver budget on the top 12 prospects every day for the next 7 days, just to prevent Trollando from picking any of them up, would that make me a huge *******? Well, yeah it definitely would, but would it keep me from getting asked back to the league next year?

I saw that movie Looper. Honestly, I was expecting some mediocre sci-fi film, but I was surprised. It was pretty good.

We may never get there but we'll sure as shit try. What's your problem with trying?
First of all, this country has constantly redefined what's practical or realistic. Again and again. Spare me the can't-do.
Also, I'm getting sick of this "at your age" crap like I'm posting while high on crack something.
I refuse to both believe that I'm so out-of-the-loop quixotic or that you're completely glass-half-empty misanthropic.Last edited by kvk1; 12-17-2012 at 03:19 AM.

Where's Chaz, I want to talk baseball. The Jays got RA Dickey for a couple of huge prospects. Not sure if I like the move or not, but it proves that the Jays are trying to win, and trying to win now.

It's because you're acting like there's some magic actions that can take place to fix the problem, and frankly I've yet to hear you propose anything that's remotely concrete or would have any meaningful effect. Psychological profiles for all of America? Having 1 cop for every citizen? Hooking everyone into the Matrix and just living in virtual reality?

People keep saying we need "change" and a "cultural shift" but no one is saying what that means...

Exactly. It means we hate it when bad things happen, but feel comforted by the fact that we're going to "do something", even if we have no idea what it is.
So, inevitably, the Government will do something relatively stupid and unproductive (and probably expensive) in order to convince us that we're all better off.☠ By reading this post, you have agreed to my negative reputation terms of service.

This reminds me of one of my sub contractors always saying "can't be done." They're all 50+. Our team tries to find solutions, however unlikely, and they are always burying their head in the sand, avoiding work, saying it can't be done, etc. There have been zero problems to which we haven't eventually found something despite them knowing the system better (they were the previous incumbent).
You're both just polar ends of the same spectrum. The "it should be a simple fix" side vs the "it can't be done" side to the "should we even try" spectrum.
At least, that's what I'm hearing. Everyone asking kvk what his "magical solution" would be, then deriding him for thinking there is a "magical solution." What would be your proposed solution or steps to prevent these types of tragedies?Master of karate, and friendship, for everyone crew.

Are we still talking about the shooting? If so - I have a hard solution to propose that is simple, and while not completely practical, I think would still be very effective.
When something terrible like this happens - bombings, shootings, murder suicides, mass-murders, whatever. We simply agree to never use the culprit's name. I don't think we can blame the media for their sensationalist coverage, people want to learn about what happened, down to the last horrifying detail. So they can still have that. But the guy who commits the crime gets no recognition, no fame, no glory. His name isn't immortalized as one that committed this atrocity, he is forgotten. Sure the name would get out in smaller circles, but if all the major media outlets agreed to never report the name - or if it were even a crime as when a minor's name is not released - I think that would go a long way to discouraging stuff like this in the future. It wouldn't be perfect, and it wouldn't prevent all shootings, but I think it would help.My Journal (RIP 05/11 - 09/13):

I went out to eat twice this past weekend and ate like a king.
Meal 1:
sweetbreads and waffles - chicken fried veal sweetbreads, butternut squash, waffle, bacon fondue, lemon caper veal jus
southern fried chicken - whipped potatoes, low country collard greens, black pepper cream gravy
peanut butter “s’more” - guanaja-peanut butter mousse, toasted marshmallow, graham cracker ice cream
Meal 2:
Crispy Oysters - country ham, creamed spinach, cajun aioli
Duck Confit and Wild Mushroom Ragout w/Rosemary biscuit
Blue Cheese Crusted Flatiron Steak w/garlic-herb French fries
Salted Caramel Tart w/ bittersweet chocolate ice cream
I trust you all will find this more interesting than the dumb political back and forth you're having. I'm available for Q & A.Who was this love of yours?

Sweetbreads or ris are culinary names for the thymus (also called throat, gullet, or neck sweetbread) or the pancreas (also called heart, stomach, or belly sweetbread) especially of the calf (ris de veau) and lamb (ris d'agneau) (although beef and pork sweetbreads are also eaten).[1] Various other glands used as food are also called 'sweetbreads', including the parotid gland ("cheek" or "ear" sweetbread), the sublingual glands ("tongue" sweetbreads or "throat bread"), and testicles (cf. Rocky Mountain oyster).[2][3] The "heart" sweetbreads are more spherical in shape, and surrounded symmetrically by the "throat" sweetbreads, which are more cylindrical in shape.
