Dear theshoupguy,
It is with utmost sincerity that we deliver this regrettable news to you. Your aforementioned recipe is devoid of creativity and smacks of a hurried, uninspiring, mindset in which food is nothing more than a particulate collection of macros that enters your mouf via that shovel that is used to eat food with.

Going away for a few days to shoot some waterfalls and beaches up north. Hopefully there are no rant shνtstorms while I'm gone.
Packed as light as possible. Tripod, camera, 24mm, 50mm, 85mm, some filters. Wish me luck.

Da, comrade.
So you're saying I should stop posting for the next few days? Okay
Also, don't you have a 14-24? Why not bring that? I guess that would be in opposition with the "as light as possible" concept though.
I look forward to seeing the results. F/8 and be there!!

I don't have a 14-24 although I've thought about getting one. What I'd really like is an updated 17-35 2.8 which will probably appear next year (they filed a patent for a 16-35). I typically don't shoot very wide. A 50 and 85 1.4 take up very little space compared to the 24-70.
More importantly I'm hoping for a couple of days where it's overcast or raining for the rainforest stuff and a couple of days of clear skies for the beaches.
Snakes are my main concern. I will be doing a few 3-4 hour walks that have a marked trail but it is summer and they are out there. There's a really nice waterfall I'd like to get to but the only way is through long grass since there's no track. Probably not worth the risk. A guy died the other day on the job making a path through long grass.

it's cedilla or cιdille. sheesh.
actually the best defense against snakes is to make plenty of noise when you walk around. they will bugger off before you even see them in most cases. if you do happen to see one, continue making noise and give it plenty of distance and don't corner it.
most snakebites happen because people go all steve irwin and try and touch them or chase them. they don't chase people around and only attack things bigger than themselves if they feel threatened. snakes in australia are just a bunch of pussies, so as long as you make your presence known, they won't bother you..

That is true. A lot of people buy an ultra-wide and try to cram everything in but it won't suit every scene/composition. I think 24mm is a good place to start and then work out from there rather than start at 14mm. Anyway, it's an amazing lens.
They recommend you wear gaiters since snakes will usually go for the ankles.
PM, according to this,

Snakes dont hear noise so if confronted by one you can alert others by sound without concern that it will increase aggression from the snake. However, dont waive arms around or make sudden movements which the snake could interpret as being hostile.
Sounds like the best thing to do is just stay still and wait for it to slither away.

and this is why i'm not a wildlife photographer
they don't hear noise in the same way that we do. but they do feel vibrations in the ground, so if you are treading heavily, they will feel something really big coming and scarper. if you are treading heavily with a few other people (and you should be with other people if you are going to be out in the aussie rough), then they will feel a whole lot of big scary dangerous things coming.
and if you shout, they can certainly detect it, and it's enough for them to at least look at you. at which point they usually size you up and bugger off, unless you are really near to it and/or have cornered it.
literally the last option a snake will choose is to chase you and bite you..

Just wear an Arizona Diamondbacks hat and snakes will leave you alone out of respect.

I'm not a fan of the Madden series. I haven't really played one since like 99. I was corrupted by NFL Blitz. I had both and once I got into Blitz, the Madden series was too slow for me to attempt to enjoy.
The last realistic NFL game I really enjoyed was like NFL Gameday 97 (I think) on PS1. That might not have been the particular year, but it was around there. I always used one of the old Bills team that had Thurman Thomas and jim Kelly.
I'm not entirely sure I understand the premise. Seems like a 28 weeks later/I am Legend issue?-
